The Cancer System Informatics Lab studies how to understand the complex systems of cancer by analyzing large-scale data such as genomic information. As the Division of Systems Analysis at the Aichi Cancer Center Research Institute, the lab develops analysis methods using data science techniques such as deep learning and Bayesian statistical modeling. The lab aims to use its findings to support prevention and treatment optimized for each individual. The lab is located at Aichi Cancer Center, and students can also conduct research here as cooperative graduate students of Nagoya University Graduate School.

The Target Discovery and Therapeutics Lab (Tumor Regulation Division) studies cancer at the Aichi Cancer Center Research Institute as a breakdown in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. Normal cells maintain their state by strictly controlling proliferation and movement, but when abnormalities occur in signaling molecules, this leads to uncontrolled proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. By clarifying these mechanisms and acting on them with drugs and other means, the lab aims to present new leads for diagnosis and treatment. The lab is located at Aichi Cancer Center (Chikusa-ku, Nagoya), and the division head serves as an affiliated professor at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine.

The Division of Tumor Immune Responses is a lab that studies how immune cells recognize and attack cancer cells (cancer immunity). The lab focuses on cancer immunity mediated by immune cells called NK cells. The lab conducts basic research that examines, at the molecular level, the entire process from when an NK cell encounters a cancer cell to when it attacks and kills it, as well as research to develop immunotherapies that use NK cells. The lab is located at Aichi Cancer Center (Chikusa Ward, Nagoya), and graduate students from Nagoya University's collaborative graduate program are also enrolled.

The Advanced Targeted Cancer Therapeutics lab researches the development of molecularly targeted therapies, which treat cancer by targeting the characteristics of cancer cells. Focusing in particular on cancers with mutations in the KRAS gene, the lab investigates which patients should receive which drugs and how, and why drugs stop working. By combining analyses of cancer cells, animal models, and patient specimens, the lab aims to discover new therapeutic targets and develop ways to make existing treatments more effective. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Division of Translational Research for Targeted Cancer Therapy" of the Aichi Cancer Center Research Institute.

Comprehensive Pediatric Medicine is a collaborative department with the Aichi Children's Health and Medical Center, and it conducts clinical research in the field of pediatric medicine. The lab links Nagoya University's advanced research techniques with Aichi Children's abundant clinical resources, which include rare diseases. The Aichi Children's Health and Medical Center is the only specialized pediatric general hospital in the prefecture and provides advanced pediatric acute care. The collaborative department "Comprehensive Pediatric Medicine" was established in April 2021.

The Tropical Bioresources Lab conducts research aimed at sustainable food production, focusing on sago palm, which grows wild in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, and on crops such as rice. Sago palm is a palm that adapts to nutrient-poor land, acidic soils, and areas around brackish water, where growing crops is difficult. In its countries of origin, it is used as a staple food and as a food ingredient. The lab works on developing techniques for stable cultivation and management of sago palm. In rice, it investigates the structure and function of root systems that can adapt to stress in the soil environment.

The Biological Genetic Information Lab aims to understand the relationship between genetic information and useful traits, and to use that knowledge to breed tolerant crop varieties. Under drought, plants try to maintain shoot growth by expanding their root zone, but this ability differs greatly among varieties. To clarify the genetic mechanisms of root system formation that cause this difference, the lab conducts research using rice.

The Practical African Development Lab conducts research to contribute to higher and more stable crop production in sub-Saharan Africa, the region south of the Sahara Desert. In addition to studying how crop genetic resources respond to the environment and developing cultivation techniques, the lab works toward putting its research results into practical use in society. For its rice cultivation research, the lab uses a base built for joint research at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization and conducts field trials on site. It also works with researchers inside and outside the university to develop techniques to control the parasitic weed Striga.

The Practical Asian Development Lab conducts research to solve local problems, working in rural villages in Cambodia and hilly areas of Nepal. Since 2008, CREA has run international cooperation projects in rural areas jointly with the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia, and has used these sites as places for research and education for the university's faculty and students. Within this work, the lab focuses on traditional foods that are being lost, and places particular emphasis on action research, in which solutions are put into practice and tested in real communities. In Nepal, the lab studies the effects of introducing biogas digesters that use livestock manure, with the aim of conserving forests.
