Takahiko Horiuchi, Professor
0 student voices
The Horiuchi-Tanaka Lab studies the relationship between the physical world and the world of perception that people experience. It clarifies the relationship between the two using data from physical measurements, psychophysical experiments, and psychophysiological experiments. Centered on visual information such as images, the lab also studies smell and touch, as well as perception that combines multiple senses. The results can be applied to devices that measure human perception, the design of images and lighting that appeal to emotions, and the creation of realistic content for the metaverse.

Yoshitsugu Manabe, Professor
0 student voices
The Manabe-Yata Lab studies methods for measuring the shape, color, and gloss of objects using images. It works on 3D shape measurement, measurement and modeling of color and gloss, image recognition of color and material appearance, and mixed reality, which merges real and virtual objects. The lab also applies these measurement technologies to the digital archiving of cultural properties and other objects.

Yoko Mizokami, Professor
0 student voices
The Mizokami-Sato Lab is a vision engineering lab that conducts research related to human vision. Based on the characteristics of human perception, the lab investigates how we distinguish colors, how the appearance of objects changes under different lighting, and how skin color looks. The lab studies how color vision deficiency looks to those who have it, aiming to realize color universal design. It also aims to apply its work to the development of lighting that controls material appearance and to the development of cosmetics.

Ryoko Katagiri, Professor
0 student voices
The Katagiri-Hanai Lab studies data on human health. Professor Katagiri conducts epidemiological research, centered on using data to clarify "what we should eat to be healthy." Associate Professor Hanai conducts research on behavioral interventions and on connecting people with AI. The lab belongs to the Faculty of Information and Data Science, as well as to the Graduate School of Information and Data Science and the Graduate School of Integrated Science and Engineering.

Atsushi Shiraki, Professor
0 student voices
The Shiraki-Umezawa Lab studies directional volumetric displays, which show different images depending on the viewing direction, and educational materials that use visualization technology. The lab proposes a method of recording multiple images in the same space by laser-processing a glass cube. The other area is developing educational materials that use CG and VR to visualize celestial bodies, which require three-dimensional understanding, in order to support that understanding. The lab also welcomes ideas from students based on their own free thinking.

Takashi Imaizumi, Professor
0 student voices
Prof. Imaizumi specializes in computer networks, security, network applications, and software engineering. Prof. Imaizumi is a faculty member of the Information Strategy Organization and teaches in the Faculty and Graduate School of Information and Data Science.

Shoko Imaizumi, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Imaizumi Lab specializes in multimedia security, image coding, image evaluation, and digital signal processing. The lab focuses on image security and compression technologies, and also studies image processing methods that incorporate machine learning and color engineering. The lab carries out international joint research with labs at overseas universities, and is also engaged in accepting international students and sending students abroad. Doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students are enrolled, and they present their research at academic societies such as the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers and the Society of Photography and Imaging of Japan.

Wataru Kishimoto, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Kishimoto Lab theoretically investigates how cryptographic systems and network systems work, using discrete mathematics and graph theory. For cryptography, the lab works on analysis and on design methods; for networks, it works on analyzing interconnection structures and on applying the results to design. It is a small lab that works through many intensive rinko reading seminars. The lab is described as a good fit for people who like to work steadily on one thing and think until they are satisfied.

Masato Kitakami, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kitakami-Namba Lab mainly conducts research that takes computers themselves as its subject, rather than research that uses computers as a tool. The lab studies the design of computer systems and of the integrated circuits that form their foundation. Computers that have been built can fail, and defects can be introduced during manufacturing. For this reason, the lab focuses on research into reliability-enhancement technologies that improve reliability.

Hiroyuki Kubo, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Building on research in computer graphics and computer vision, the Kubo Lab studies new technologies for video and images. The lab conducts research in a wide range of fields, such as medical imaging and visual expression, and aims to open up new technologies and research fields that lead to greater happiness and prosperity for people. It also develops special cameras and light sources to measure worlds that look completely different from what the human eye sees. Another goal is to create visual information technologies that connect computers and people, and to deliver unprecedented visual experiences to people.
