The Bio-Nano Quantum Measurement Science Lab studies technology for measuring biological phenomena, using NV centers, quantum systems confined in diamond crystals, as sensors. The lab's website is the page of the Next-Generation Quantum Sensor Team at the Institute for Quantum Life Science, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST). Believing that transformations in life science have been driven by new measurement technologies, the lab aims to create "next-generation biomeasurement technology" that measures the nanoscale living world with ultimate precision. The lab expects this technology to give new methods of analysis for complex biological phenomena such as aging, carcinogenesis, and neural activity.

The Quantum Medical Engineering Lab applies quantum technologies such as nanoscale quantum sensors to regenerative medical engineering, developing technologies to examine the state of stem cells and regenerative cells. By measuring physicochemical parameters of cells such as temperature, pH, and radicals, the lab aims to apply the results to quality control before transplantation and to diagnosis inside the living body after transplantation. In this way, the lab aims to deepen understanding of cell states inside and outside the body and to contribute to the fields of regenerative medicine and developmental biology. On the lab's website, it is introduced as the "Quantum Regenerative Medical Engineering Team" of the Institute for Quantum Life Science, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST).

The Quantum Cognition and Neuroinformation Science Lab applies quantum probability theory, a mathematical framework, to research in cognitive neuroscience. The lab aims to accurately describe and predict, using mathematical models based on quantum probability theory, cognitive functions that were difficult to explain with classical probability theory. Its goal is a fundamental understanding of how complex neural information comes together in consciousness as a single percept, such as a sensation, a memory, or self-awareness. On the institute's website, the lab is introduced under the name "Quantum Cognitive Brain Science Team."

The Quantum Structural Biology Lab uses quantum technologies to investigate what shapes biomolecules such as proteins take and how they change shape to function. The lab combines quantum technologies such as synchrotron X-rays and neutron diffraction and scattering with quantum chemical calculations and simulations. Its goal is to create "quantum" structural biology that goes beyond conventional "atomic" structural biology. The lab is the Structural Biology Team at the Institute for Quantum Life Science, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST), and conducts research at two sites: Chiba and Tokai (Ibaraki).

The Quantum Life Computational Science Lab studies the motions and functions of biological macromolecules, such as proteins and nucleic acid complexes, at the Institute for Quantum Life Science of QST. Using both computer-based calculations and experiments with tools such as optical tweezers, the lab aims to clarify how biological macromolecules move and perform their functions. In particular, the lab works on the binding and dissociation of small molecules and proteins, the relationship between DNA packaging states and gene expression, and the creation of functional proteins. On the lab's website, it is presented under the name 'Biomolecular Simulation Team.'

The Protein Quantum Functional Science Lab investigates the quantum effects found in proteins, aiming to develop unprecedented molecules that are useful in everyday life. Proteins are the central molecules that carry out the activities of living organisms, and quantum effects are one of the things that underlie their remarkable functions. The lab studies quantum effects in proteins, for example energy transfer during photosynthesis. The lab conducts its research at the Institute for Quantum Life Science of the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST), and the institute's website presents it under the name 'Protein Function Analysis Team.'
