The lab studies the shape of curved spaces through differential geometry and geometric analysis.

Prof. Maeta studies differential geometry, geometric analysis, and information geometry. The lab works on objects called Ricci solitons and Yamabe solitons. In information geometry, the professor is interested in geometric flows on Hessian manifolds and their self-similar solutions. Although the professor's graduate school affiliation is the Graduate School of Education, research in the lab is purely mathematical.

The lab traces the changes in Earth's environment and life from strata and fossils.

The lab studies the changes in Earth's environment and life throughout the Phanerozoic, and the interactions between them. To learn about past environments and how they changed, it investigates strata from various periods and analyzes their properties. To learn about the ecology of ancient organisms and their responses to the environment, it examines fossils found in strata. To interpret fossil data more appropriately, it also studies the forms and behaviors of living animals that can serve as models.

A chemistry lab that builds highly sensitive thermometers and other instruments with the educational microcontroller micro:bit.

The chemistry lab in the Science Education Division connects the educational microcontroller micro:bit to sensors and develops it into highly sensitive, high-precision thermometers, temperature control devices, and more. By using the micro:bit not only for learning programming but also for measurement in experiments, the lab hopes to let students feel how computers work and to help make measurement in science experiments more efficient. Bachelor's thesis topics include temperature measurement with the micro:bit, as well as crystal growth of table salt and the fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells. Associate Professor Hideko Hayashi specializes in physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry.

The lab tackles questions of evolution by building a new model system for learning behavior.

Associate Professor Koji Sasakawa's lab studies learning behavior in animals. Associate Professor Sasakawa specializes in entomology, animal ecology, and animal taxonomy. In its research on learning behavior, the lab addresses questions such as whether the evolution of learning ability promotes the evolution of diet and speciation. The lab has also studied the relationship between mandible shape and diet in larvae of Carabidae (ground beetles). In the researcher information, the affiliation is listed as the "Zoology Lab, Science Education Course."

The lab develops experimental teaching materials for technology education, such as organic LEDs and radios.

Professor Masaaki Iizuka's lab studies the development of experimental teaching materials on electricity, electronics, and information for use in technology education classes and courses. The lab has created materials on topics such as wireless power transfer, organic LEDs, FM radio, and maglev trains. In recent years, it has also written papers examining teaching materials for quantum computers and electricity materials that incorporate the concept of voltage. Professor Iizuka specializes in electronic devices, information engineering, and electronic circuit engineering.

The lab uses agriculture and food as teaching materials to create classes that can be shared across countries.

Professor Koji Tsuji's lab studies the design of classes that use agriculture, food, and plant genetic resources as teaching materials. Professor Tsuji is a faculty member in technology education at the Faculty of Education, specializing in plant breeding and agricultural education. Professor Tsuji has made the exploration, conservation, and use of plant genetic resources (wild species, landraces, and so on) a lifework, and has experience conducting field surveys in India, Nepal, Malaysia, and other countries. In recent years, the research focus has shifted to education. In collaboration with overseas universities, the lab works on developing classes that use specialty agricultural products of Chiba Prefecture as teaching materials, as one kind of plant genetic resource.
