The Medical Administration Lab studies administrative issues related to the evaluation of drugs from the standpoint of regulatory science. It was established as a cooperative graduate program between the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) and Chiba University. Its main research topics are efficient drug development for approval review, and the effects of "ethnic differences," in which the optimal dosage and other aspects of a drug differ between populations. Another aim is to train people who can think for themselves, and make evidence-based proposals, on how drugs should be developed and reviewed for approval.

Molecular Tumor Biology is an affiliated graduate school program of the Graduate School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University, based at the Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute. The lab studies, at the molecular level, how cancer arises and what characterizes cancer cells and the cells surrounding them. It aims to link these results to translational research and the development of new treatments. Research takes place not on a Chiba University campus but at the Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute (Chuo Ward, Chiba City), which is attached to a specialized cancer hospital.

Heavy Ion Radiotherapy is a collaborative department of the Graduate School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chiba University, established in partnership with QST Hospital of the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST). Its listed research topics include the mechanisms by which carbon-ion beams act on living tissue, improving treatment techniques, expanding the range of indications, and improving treatment efficacy. Developing combination therapies with molecular targeted drugs and immunotherapy, and treating and protecting against damage to normal tissue caused by carbon-ion beams, are also research topics. Research on assessing and predicting the effects of carbon-ion therapy using PET (positron CT) and MRI is also listed.

The Endowed Department of Innovative Medicine in Musculoskeletal Science studies new ways to diagnose and treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the structures that let the body move, such as the bones, joints, and spine. The lab is an endowed department established in October 2019 within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Chiba University. Going beyond orthopaedic surgery, the lab collaborates with fields such as radiology, biomechanics, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Its mission is to create medical care aimed at restoring function and preventing musculoskeletal diseases, and to train the next generation of professionals.

The Mucosal System Lab studies the mechanisms of immunity in the intestine. The lab investigates how M cells, specialized cells that take bacteria and viruses from inside the gut into immune tissue, function and how they form. The lab also studies how the gut microbiota interacts with its host and how this affects bodily functions and disease. The lab is a team at the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (Yokohama). As a cooperative graduate school program with Chiba University, it allows students to earn a degree while doing research here.

The Immune Transcriptional Regulation Lab studies how the various immune cells that make up the immune system differentiate. All cells in the body carry the same genome, and to become a specific type of cell, a program that reads out the necessary genetic information must be run. Focusing on transcription factors, which are central to this process, the lab investigates the mechanisms of immune cell differentiation from the perspective of gene expression regulation. The lab is a team at the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (Yokohama). As a cooperative graduate school program with Chiba University, it allows students to earn a degree while doing research here.

The Immune Cell Therapy Lab studies the mechanisms that enhance and regulate immune function in cancer and other diseases. Going beyond basic research, the lab pursues translational research that leads to practical application in clinical settings. It is working to bring to humans a new cancer vaccine cell product that elicits both innate and adaptive immunity. The lab is a team at the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (Yokohama). As a cooperative graduate school program with Chiba University, it allows students to earn a degree while doing research here.

The Human Disease Model Research Team uses humanized mice to study how blood and immune cells are produced. The team seeks to clarify the process by which the most undifferentiated hematopoietic stem cells give rise to a wide variety of blood and immune cells. By investigating why leukemia relapses and what kind of treatment can overcome relapse, the team aims to understand and overcome leukemia. The team is part of the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (Yokohama). As a cooperative graduate school program with Chiba University, students can earn a degree while conducting research here.
