To realize extreme nanofabrication, the Quantum Beam Materials Process Engineering Lab investigates the physical and chemical processes that quantum beams cause inside materials. As its investigative tool, the lab develops pulse radiolysis systems with femtosecond and attosecond time resolution, and also studies how to generate and measure the electron beam pulses they use. At the interdisciplinary frontier of radiation chemistry, accelerator science, and electron microscopy, the lab aims for new developments. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Nano-Extreme Fabrication Research Field."

The Quantum Reaction Engineering Lab works on applications of radiation to medicine and industry, and on fusion neutronics. In the field of fusion, the lab conducts neutronics research using OKTAVIAN, Osaka University's intense 14 MeV neutron source facility for neutronics experiments. In the field of cancer treatment, the lab studies boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), a new treatment method, from an engineering perspective. The lab's website goes by the name "Murata Lab."

The Quantum Beam Biomaterials Engineering Lab conducts research aimed at contributing to solutions for problems in energy, the environment, and welfare, built on three technologies: radiation, magnetic fields, and biomeasurement. The lab studies the effects of radiation on materials, living organisms, and the surrounding environment. It also researches environmental cleanup, resource recovery, and minimally invasive treatment through control of magnetic force, as well as studies that use biomeasurement to improve people's quality of life (QOL). On the lab's website, it is presented under the name "Sato Lab."

The Marine Materials and Production Engineering Lab researches technologies that improve the durability of ships, offshore structures, and various machines so that they can be used for a long time in extreme environments. In environments such as rough open seas, high-pressure deep seas, and ice-covered seas, the lab investigates, through both experiments and numerical simulation, how fatigue, corrosion, and wear progress and lead to failure. It also combines data science and AI to optimize manufacturing processes such as shipbuilding fabrication and to automate quality inspection. The lab has a system in which students receive careful guidance on experiments and calculations from senior students and faculty, and many international students are enrolled.

The Ocean Space Development Engineering Lab studies the propulsion and motion performance of ships in waves, as well as the performance of very large floating offshore structures intended for the use of ocean space and ocean energy. The lab examines the propulsion and motion performance of ships advancing through waves using theory, numerical computation, towing tank experiments, and analysis of onboard data. Students from other universities and other faculties are welcome. The lab lists mathematics, mechanics, fluid mechanics, and mechanics of materials as the undergraduate-level knowledge required. Lab visits are available both through officially organized graduate school opportunities and as informal visits, which are also welcome.

The Ship and Offshore Structural Engineering Lab studies ships and offshore structures, focusing on structural integrity assessment, numerical simulation, and digital twins. The lab also works on floating offshore wind turbines, offshore construction, digital transformation (DX) in shipbuilding, and robotics. To support every stage of design, construction, and operation, the lab combines CFD, FEM, statistical methods, machine learning, and AI. By combining experiments, numerical analysis, and data-driven methods, the lab aims to improve the safety, reliability, and productivity of ships and offshore structures.

The Ship and Ocean Fluid Engineering Lab carries out education and research on the relationship between hull form and performance. Using theory and CFD, the lab mainly clarifies the flow around vehicles moving in or on water. To verify the results, the lab also develops experimental techniques, such as methods for obtaining normally invisible distributions of flow velocity and wave height from visualization images. The lab also studies underwater vehicles and develops side-fin propulsors.

The Ship Intelligence Lab conducts advanced research and development on ships. To avoid accidents when berthing in wind and waves, the lab works on automatic berthing using neural networks. To prevent accidents in which ships capsize or heel heavily, the lab studies ship stability using modern methods such as dynamical systems theory. The lab belongs to the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering group of the Division of Global Architecture, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University.

The Water Engineering Lab studies water environments such as coastal areas, brackish lakes, and urban rivers. Its goals are the creation of healthy water environments and the building of sustainable water systems. The lab works on predicting the future of water environments in river basins, analyzing the flow and water quality of enclosed sea areas, and developing new techniques for analyzing water environments. On the lab's website, it is also introduced under the name "Mizu-ken."
