The Research Center for Behavioral Economics (RCBE) is part of the Institute of Social and Economic Research at Osaka University, and is the first research hub for behavioral economics in Japan. It was established in April 2004 on the basis of the research results in behavioral economics and experimental economics accumulated up to that point. For social and economic problems that standard economic methods alone cannot fully address, the center studies people's behavioral characteristics from multiple perspectives, working with related fields such as sociology, law, psychology, and artificial intelligence. Through its research results, the center aims to contribute to highly effective economic policy and institutional design.
