The Otorhinolaryngology lab belongs to the Graduate School of Medical Sciences at Kyushu University and is introduced together with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Kyushu University Hospital. Professor Takashi Nakagawa specializes in hearing, balance disorders, ear surgery, skull base surgery, and pediatric hearing loss. The lab was established in 1906 and is a traditional otorhinolaryngology lab with more than 100 years of history. Its guiding policy is that nurturing people matters most, and it believes the lab develops as its people grow.

The Dermatology Lab studies atopic dermatitis, itch, malignant skin tumors, and related conditions. Aiming to clarify disease mechanisms and lead to the development of new treatments, the lab carries out both basic and clinical research. The lab also studies the signaling pathway of AHR (aryl hydrocarbon receptor), which acts as a sensor for chemical substances. With diversity as its motto, the lab aims to be a strong organization that keeps adapting to changing times and pursues progressive growth, and one that is kind to its people.

The Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Lab, together with the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at Kyushu University Hospital, works on whole-body management during surgery and on pain clinic care (treatment of pain). On the lab's webpage, anesthesia is described as acute care medicine that suppresses harmful reactions to the major stress of surgery and prevents and corrects disturbances in respiration, circulation, body fluids, and metabolism. Its research examines topics such as propofol infusion syndrome and lung injury caused by high concentrations of oxygen. For medical students and residents, the lab announces opportunities to visit the department and see its atmosphere and training.

The Growth and Developmental Medicine Lab is the pediatrics department of Kyushu University, and works on both clinical care and research to prevent and overcome diseases in children. The lab has specialty groups in allergy, infectious diseases, hematology/immunology/oncology, cardiology, pediatric critical care, nephrology, neurology, neonatology, and endocrinology/metabolism. The lab's creed is "Medicine is clinical practice." Alongside daily clinical care, it values research and the pursuit of dreams that lead to the happiness of children and their families. Regardless of which university you graduated from or your prior experience, the lab accepts requests for visits and career consultations at any time.

The Pediatric Surgery Lab studies surgical diseases in children, using information gained in clinical practice to improve diagnostic and treatment methods. The website introduces eight clinical groups: Neonatal, Respiratory, and Fluid/Metabolism/Nutrition; Hepatobiliary and Transplantation; Gastrointestinal Function; Endoscopic Surgery; Pediatric Oncology; Pediatric Urology; Common Diseases; and Pediatric Kampo Medicine. The research page lists clinical studies that use medical records and other clinical information, each with its own individual page.

The Reproductive Pathophysiology Lab is the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Kyushu University, and carries out research and clinical care in three research groups: reproductive endocrinology, perinatal medicine, and gynecologic oncology. The reproductive endocrinology group investigates the mechanisms of diseases caused by various disturbances of the endocrine environment, and aims to develop new diagnostic methods and minimally invasive treatments. The perinatal medicine group investigates the development and differentiation of villous trophoblasts, fetal behavioral science, and the pathophysiology of pregnancy complications, and aims to develop new clinical care and management methods for abnormal pregnancies. The gynecologic oncology group analyzes cases from its own institution while also taking part in multi-institutional studies, clarifies the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and characteristics, and works on developing diagnostic and treatment methods.

The Advanced Emergency and Disaster Medicine Lab conducts research in emergency medicine and trains emergency physicians. Taking advantage of Kyushu University as a comprehensive university, the lab collaborates with other basic research fields and takes as its research themes redox imaging of organ failure, the development of new drug delivery systems, and regenerative medicine using stem cells and other cells. In disaster medicine, the lab focuses on building systems that use IT and other technologies to quickly collect disaster information and deliver medical care to the scene, as well as on disaster preparedness education for the general public. The graduate school offers a doctoral program and a master's program for working professionals.

The lab conducts clinical research using data from electronic health records and health care databases. The Department of Medical Informatics, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University, was re-established in December 2023. The lab also studies the use of clinical pathways and the integration of personal health records (PHR) with electronic health records. The lab's website presents the Department of Medical Informatics together with the Medical Information Center at Kyushu University Hospital.

The lab studies how organelles inside cells, especially the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum, are formed and maintained. The lab believes that understanding the mechanisms that build and maintain organelle structure will also reveal links to disease and aging. Focusing on membrane fusion, the lab investigates the p97/p47 and p97/p37 pathways, in which the protein p97 ATPase acts. These two pathways were discovered by Prof. Kondo and colleagues.

The lab studies how sex is determined in animals and how sex differences arise in the body. In particular, it investigates how the testis and ovary differentiate, through epigenetic regulation and the control of gene expression by nuclear receptors. Another research theme is how the mechanisms by which cells obtain energy from sugar and lipid metabolism relate to cell differentiation and sex hormone production. The lab's website presents it under the name "Department of Sex Difference Biology (Molecular Biology)."
