Rika Wakao, Professor
0 student voices
The Wakao Lab is a lab whose research fields are regulatory science and pharmacovigilance for drugs and related products. Her researcher profile describes Professor Rika Wakao as having been engaged in regulatory science research since 2006, after working in basic research. In the lab introductions of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, "Drug Regulation" is added after the lab's name.

Tomoya Fujie, Lecturer
0 student voices
The Fujie Lab studies the effects of heavy metals on human health from the viewpoint of their toxicity to blood vessels. Hygienic and public health pharmaceutical sciences is a field whose mission is to protect human health and contribute to disease prevention, and the lab conducts its research from this standpoint. The lab works to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of the vascular toxicity of heavy metals and of the functions of vascular cells. The lab also pursues bioorganometallics, which uses organic-inorganic hybrid molecules in life science research, and explores new possibilities of metals and metal compounds.

Kohji Noguchi, Professor
0 student voices
The Noguchi Lab conducts basic research on molecular targets for drug discovery in viral infections and virus-associated cancers. Its research field is the study of molecular targets in infectious diseases. The lab aims to identify new molecular targets for urgent emerging and re-emerging viral infections and cancer-related infectious diseases, and to contribute to next-generation drug discovery. In its research on emerging and re-emerging viral infections, the lab advances basic virology research in collaboration with the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the National Institute of Health Sciences.

Toshihiro Noda, Professor (Deemed Full-time)
0 student voices
The Noda Lab studies ways to explain the effects and side effects of medicines to patients in pharmacies in an easy-to-understand way. Its research field is pharmacy management within healthcare pharmacy; the department's list of labs gives clinical pharmacy, social pharmacy, and pharmacy management. Professor Toshihiro Noda has been a Professor (deemed full-time) at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tokyo University of Science, since April 2026.

Shiyuu Sekiya, Lecturer
0 student voices
The Sekiya Lab studies the work of pharmacists in pharmacies and the health support functions that pharmacies perform. Its research topics are the use of ICT in pharmacists' work, health checks at pharmacies, and the effectiveness of patient follow-up by community pharmacists. Its research field is healthcare pharmacy (community pharmacy science). In the Department of Pharmacy's introduction of its labs, this lab is listed as a lab led by a practitioner faculty member in clinical pharmacy.

Hideyo Takahashi, Professor
0 student voices
The Takahashi Lab studies medicinal chemistry for drug discovery, creating new medicines by focusing on the three-dimensional shapes of drug molecules. Regarding the three-dimensional structure of drugs as key to pharmacological activity, the lab analyzes stereochemistry from the perspective of axial chirality. Using the power of organic chemistry, it also tackles themes directly tied to clinical practice, such as drug metabolism and interactions. On the university's website, the lab is introduced as a "Drug Discovery Chemistry and Clinical Pharmaceutical Chemistry" lab in the Department of Pharmacy, and as a "Medicinal Chemistry" lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Ryoko Takasawa, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Takasawa Lab aims to create compounds that can serve as the basis for new anticancer drugs, targeting proteins that play important roles in the survival and proliferation of cancer cells. There is demand for drugs with a new mechanism of action that are highly effective even against cancer cells that have become resistant to anticancer drugs, and that act specifically on cancer cells. Using in silico drug discovery methods, the lab aims to create lead compounds for molecularly targeted anticancer drugs with few side effects. The lab also aims to develop therapeutic drugs for diseases involving abnormal regulation of apoptosis, such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Yoshiaki Shikamura, Professor
0 student voices
The Shikamura Lab conducts research verifying the usefulness of pharmacists' work across all pharmacy operations. Subjects include collecting information on drugs, collecting information from patients and customers, evaluating and using the information collected, and providing information to physicians and other healthcare professionals. The lab also works on developing IT tools that support medication follow-up and on preventing oral frailty through community pharmacies.
Mayumi Shikano, Professor
0 student voices
The Shikano Lab studies regulatory science for pharmaceuticals and related products. As drug development becomes increasingly international, international harmonization of evaluation approaches is becoming important. At the same time, the use of new technologies such as AI and big data analysis is advancing, and this raises issues that do not fit conventional approaches. The lab organizes approaches to evaluating the efficacy and safety of drugs based on the characteristics of new technologies, and conducts research that contributes to building international consensus.
