The Nephrology Lab provides clinical care for kidney diseases and conducts research spanning both basic and clinical science. The lab investigates questions arising in clinical practice through basic research, and applies findings from basic research in the clinic, linking them to drug discovery. In clinical research as well, the lab generates evidence on clinically important issues such as IgA nephropathy, nephrotic syndrome, and chronic kidney disease, and communicates it to the world. The lab also puts effort into undergraduate and postgraduate education, aiming to train nephrologists and clinical scientists.

The Hospital Clinical Laboratory Medicine Lab is one of the internal medicine departments of the Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, responsible for education and research in clinical laboratory medicine. In the Graduate School of Medicine's list of departments, this department is introduced with the statement "proposing innovative disease concepts and developing novel clinical laboratory tests." As a department within the clinical laboratory division, it was established in 1980 for education and research in clinical laboratory medicine, the earliest such department among national universities. In 2015, it was renamed to its current name, Hospital Clinical Laboratory Medicine.

The Neurology Lab studies diseases of the nerves and muscles, including cerebrovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, neuroimmune disease, epilepsy, peripheral nerve disease, and muscle disease. Its mission is to pursue, in a continuous line, basic research that uncovers the root of disease mechanisms, advanced clinical research, and translational research that delivers new treatments to patients. The lab aims to realize "Neurology That Cures," truly delivering its research results to patients. It also sets the goal of training people who can pose their own questions and open up new frontiers in medicine.

The Psychiatry Lab belongs to the Information Integrated Medicine course of the Department of Clinical Medicine (Internal Medicine), Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University, and conducts clinical research on psychiatric disorders. Research is carried out by groups that each take different approaches and focus on different subjects, such as neuropsychology, neurochemistry, and cognitive and behavioral physiology. Staff in the neuropsychology group are strong in the clinical care of dementia and psychiatric disorders in older adults, while staff in the child and adolescent group are strong in the clinical care of developmental disorders. The graduate school recruits both doctoral and master's students, and lab visits are accepted at any time.

Under Professor Manabu Fujimoto, the Dermatology Lab works to elucidate the pathology of, and establish treatments for, connective tissue diseases and immune disorders, including scleroderma and dermatomyositis. Research is divided among faculty members and investigates autoantibodies in connective tissue diseases, the functions of B cells, T cells in the skin, and the relationship between skin bacteria and inflammation. The lab is an organization in which the Department of Dermatology of the Osaka University Faculty of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals work together in clinical practice, research, and education in dermatology. The lab holds information sessions and visits for the department for medical students and junior residents.

The Medical Statistics Lab studies the development and application of statistical and mathematical methods useful for medical research. Its methods cover observational studies using existing databases, clinical trials, research synthesis that combines the results of multiple studies, and analysis of cancer registry data. It also works on methods for survival analysis and for meta-analysis, which evaluates the results of multiple studies together. In the master's program, students learn the fundamentals of medical statistics and programming skills. In the doctoral program, they aim to acquire the ability to develop new methods.

The Radiology Lab conducts research and clinical practice in radiology, which captures information about the body as images and makes diagnoses from them. Divided into four specialty groups (neuroradiology, breast, chest, and abdomen), the lab handles diagnostic imaging of every part of the body, from head to toe. It also performs IVR (interventional radiology), a minimally invasive treatment that uses imaging. In its research, the lab uses the latest multidetector CT and high-field MRI installed at Osaka University Hospital, aiming to improve diagnostic performance.
