The Molecular Imaging Lab conducts fundamental research on nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging and molecular imaging. The lab also studies technical aspects of cardiac nuclear medicine, as well as imaging of brain and nervous system function and its analysis. Basic and clinical research on cancer imaging is also one of the lab's main research themes.

The Radiation Therapy Biology Lab studies cancer treatment using various types of radiation from a biological perspective. Using X-rays, gamma rays, particle beams, neutron beams, and other types of radiation, the lab investigates topics such as combinations of radiation and immune checkpoint inhibitors. In collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology in the Department of Medicine and the Medical Physics Lab in the Department of Health Sciences, the lab aims to improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients. The lab also collaborates with institutions in Japan and abroad, including the Hyogo Ion Beam Medical Center and City of Hope in the United States.

The Clinical Imaging Medicine Lab studies diagnostic radiology, the field of diagnosing diseases throughout the body from images such as X-ray, CT, and MRI. Diagnostic radiology is regarded as an essential field for detecting diseases early and making accurate diagnoses. In diagnostic practice, clinicians are expected to keep learning new knowledge and technology, and to calmly analyze problems that arise during examinations and find solutions. The lab works to create an environment where such efforts can be pursued.

The Medical Magnetic Resonance Lab studies the condition of the lungs using MRI with hyperpolarized xenon. Using hyperpolarized XeMRI, which raises the polarization of xenon to increase NMR sensitivity tens of thousands of times, the lab images the lungs, which has been difficult with conventional MRI. The lab has worked on developing a preclinical evaluation system using hyperpolarized XeMRI, which has made early diagnosis and treatment possible for intractable lung diseases such as pulmonary emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis. The English name of the lab's website is Laboratory of Isotope Kinetics. The content of the research introduction page dates from around 2019.

The Advanced Imaging Technology Lab develops advanced diagnostic imaging technologies in radiological technology and magnetic resonance medicine, aiming to evaluate diseases of organs such as the brain, lungs, heart, and liver and to elucidate their pathology. With access to a preclinical ultra-high-field 7T MRI, a permanent-magnet 1.5T MRI, micro-CT, and other equipment, the lab examines disease models in animals such as rats and mice through imaging. The lab welcomes students who want to work clinically in hospitals as radiologic technologists, as well as students aiming to become researchers or university faculty.

The Radiation Informatics Lab conducts research on medical information, with a particular focus on information related to radiation. Its main research themes are assessing the actual state of radiation therapy and computer-aided diagnosis of medical images. The lab carries out its research using radiation therapy information and medical image information. The lab is organized in cooperation with the Medical Physics Lab (Prof. Nishio).

The Immune and Hematopoietic Regulation Lab (Oji Lab) conducts research under the themes of "taking on cancer with the power of immunity" and "why does cancer develop?" With WT1 vaccine therapy as its main theme, the lab develops tests to examine immune function and methods to efficiently induce and maintain antitumor immune responses. The lab aims to clarify the function of the Wilms' tumor gene WT1 as an oncogene and, based on this, to develop new molecularly targeted cancer therapies.

The Cardiovascular Metabolism Lab studies the original functions of adipocytes (fat cells) and how their dysregulation leads to obesity. Aiming to overcome lifestyle-related diseases, the lab focuses on the pathology of obese adipose tissue and the functions of adipocytokines secreted by adipocytes. The lab regards adipocytes as cells that not only store energy but also regulate their own functions through their own nutrient signals, and it works to clarify these mechanisms. The lab belongs to the Department of Pathophysiological Information Science in the Division of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University.

The Clinical Neurophysiology Lab studies the mechanisms of diseases of the brain, nerves, and muscles, centering on physiological methods such as electrophysiology and also using genetic analysis. The lab is working to clarify disease mechanisms using patient-derived iPS cells, and it also conducts research on treatments, mainly for rare diseases caused by ion channel abnormalities. The lab also runs a patient registry (a register of patients) and is building the foundation needed for developing treatments. The master's program in the Division of Health Sciences has a genetic counseling course, through which the lab trains certified genetic counselors.

Centering on ophthalmology, the Regenerative Medicine and Developmental Biology Lab studies regenerative medicine for the cornea, eye development, photoreceptor pathology, and the causative genes of hereditary diseases. The lab belongs to the Department of Biopathological Information Science, in the Medical Technology Sciences field of the Division of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University. In its research, the lab uses human iPS cells, zebrafish, model mice, and other models. Prof. Tsujikawa is a physician who has treated patients and studied diseases in ophthalmology, and in the lab he also teaches anatomy and clinical chemistry in lectures and practical training.
