The lab aims to enhance interprofessional healthcare in which hospitals, clinics, and local residents work together. It aims to train oral healthcare professionals who are active during disasters as well, and who are trusted by people who say, “If anything happens, we can just ask them, and we'll feel safe.” The lab holds that, in addition to medicine and dentistry, these professionals need knowledge of pharmacy, nursing, nutrition, and social welfare, and must hone the skills to communicate closely with people in each field. A program developed jointly with Kumamoto University Hospital, aimed at training professionals from multiple fields for team medical care in disasters, has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
