Hiroaki Ogata, Professor
0 student voices
The Educational Informatics Lab (Ogata Lab) aims to evolve education, which has long relied on intuition and experience, into education based on evidence and technology. By making the learning process visible and capturing each student's understanding and stumbling points, the lab enables better lesson design and learning support. It also develops tools such as digital textbooks, learning dashboards, and platforms for schools. Working with educational institutions, the lab is building an environment where anyone can learn effectively, anywhere.

Kazuyuki Shudo, Professor
0 student voices
The Large-Scale Data Utilization Infrastructure Lab (Shudo Lab) is a lab that works on software and networks. It studies how to coordinate anywhere from a few computers to millions or more, and what becomes possible only through such coordination. The lab began at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2008, and in April 2022 Professor Kazuyuki Shudo moved to Kyoto University. In addition to papers and conference presentations, the lab encourages putting its work before the world, for example by releasing software.

Hisayuki Hara, Concurrent Professor
0 student voices
The Statistical Inference Lab is run by Professor Hisayuki Hara of the Data Science Innovation Education and Research Center, Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences, who holds a concurrent appointment as a professor in the Graduate School of Informatics. His areas of expertise are multivariate inferential statistics, computational algebraic statistics, and Bayesian statistics.

Hiroshi Tamura, Concurrent Professor

The Medical and Health Data Science Lab is run by Professor Hiroshi Tamura of the Data Science Innovation Education and Research Center, affiliated with the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences, who also holds a concurrent professorship in the Graduate School of Informatics. The lab conducts epidemiological studies using clinical data, centered on images, and claims data, and develops medical systems and testing devices jointly with companies.

Hiroyuki Nakahara, Affiliated Professor
0 student voices
Computational Cognitive Neuroscience (Affiliated Unit) is a unit affiliated with RIKEN, run by Affiliated Professor Hiroyuki Nakahara (Learning Theory and Social Brain Research Team) and Wataru Sato. The Nakahara Lab studies the brain mechanisms that produce adaptive behavior and the computational principles behind them. It focuses in particular on "decision making and learning" and on "social intelligence," which matters most in everyday life. The lab pursues experiments and theory in parallel. In experiments, it works with human fMRI; in theory, it works on computational models of the brain, brain-inspired intelligence, and techniques for analyzing brain data.

Tomoharu Iwata, Affiliated Professor
