Takayuki Kameoka, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Assistant Professor Takayuki Kameoka's lab lists haptics, virtual reality, and human-computer interaction as its research themes. At Kyushu University, he belongs to the Department of Media Design, Faculty of Design, and is listed as a faculty member of the Media Design Course, Department of Design, School of Design. His research fields are registered as electronic devices and equipment, control and systems engineering, perceptual information processing, and human interface and interaction.

Mao Kudo, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
The Signage Planning (Mao Kudo) Lab studies signage planning, which guides people to their destinations safely and comfortably, and the design of pictograms, which convey information without relying on language. Focusing on the characteristics of visual cognition in people with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and similar conditions, the lab aims for designs that more people find “easy to understand.” The lab's research covers investigation, analysis, and evaluation, through to implementing the design. Drawing on teaching experience at special needs schools, the lab also emphasizes educational practice: how to teach design, how children learn, and how they apply what they have learned in their daily lives.

KUKHARUK Alexey, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
The Instructional Design Lab covers the field of specialization of Assistant Professor Alexey Kukharuk of the Media Design Division, Faculty of Design. In Kyushu University's faculty list, the professor is listed as being in charge of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design, School of Design, and the Media Design Course in the Department of Design, Graduate School of Design. The fields of specialization are given as instructional design, second language education, and professional development.

ZARINS Martins, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Assistant Professor Martins Zarins is a faculty member of the Media Design Division, Faculty of Design, Kyushu University, specializing in theater, directing, theater studies, and linguistics. The professor is listed as a faculty member of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design, School of Design, and of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design, Graduate School of Design. The School of Design, the Graduate School of Design, and the Faculty of Design are located at the Ohashi Campus in Minami-ku, Fukuoka.

Kiriko Toh, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Assistant Professor Kiriko Toh (specializing in web design) studies information design and forms of communication on the web. The lab explores how to structure content to take advantage of the web's characteristics, and how to create visual design that improves usability while expressing a strong identity. Research also covers ways of using database-driven sites and their development as marketing tools. The lab is also engaged in joint research on the impressions that fonts give.

BLANCO Laura, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Assistant Professor Laura Blanco's field of specialization is instructional design in foreign language education. Assistant Professor Blanco belongs to the Media Design Division of the Faculty of Design, Kyushu University. She is listed as a faculty member of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design, School of Design for undergraduates, and of the Media Design Course in the Department of Design, Graduate School of Design for graduate students.

Akira Omoto, Professor
0 student voices
From the standpoint of architectural acoustics, the lab studies how to measure, evaluate, control, and reproduce sound in enclosed spaces such as rooms. In the past, the lab worked on applying active noise control to noise barriers, as well as on the adaptive algorithms needed for such control. In sound field reproduction, the lab is examining ways to rationally combine technically accurate methods with the staging techniques used in artistic settings. Recently, aiming to apply sound field reproduction systems directly to human welfare, the lab has added acoustic welfare engineering (acoustic engineering for human welfare) as a keyword for its activities.

Tokihiko Kaburagi, Professor
0 student voices
The Speech Information Processing Lab of Prof. Kaburagi aims to clarify more fundamentally how people communicate with their voices. The lab studies how speakers produce speech, how listeners perceive it, and how the two are related. It works on observing the movements of the articulators and on elucidating how the vocal folds generate the sound source of the voice. In education, the professor teaches courses in phonetics, speech signal processing, and speech information processing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Toshiya Samejima, Professor
0 student voices
The Acoustic Engineering Lab analyzes and controls acoustic and vibration systems through theory and numerical computation. Targeting musical instruments, stage equipment, loudspeakers, and headphones, the lab works on coupled analysis, which links vibration and sound fields in a single calculation. It also researches making physical-model sound sources for electronic musical instruments more faithful and accurate, as well as passive and active control. Prof. Samejima belongs to the Acoustic Design Division of the Faculty of Design.

Masayuki Takada, Professor
0 student voices
The lab of Prof. Takada studies how sounds affect people, focusing on sounds generally regarded as noise, such as mechanical sounds, and on the sound environments around us. It evaluates and analyzes these effects from psychological and physiological aspects, and explores how sound should be designed. Past subjects include sounds around childcare facilities, car horns, product sounds, and sounds on a university campus. It is the lab of a faculty member belonging to the Acoustic Design Course of the School of Design and the Graduate School of Design.
