The Global Health Nursing Lab addresses noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes, health disparities, and environmental health issues from the standpoint of nursing. The lab believes that even when research is conducted in Japan, sharing the results with the world can contribute to the development of nursing both in Japan and abroad. Built on a foundation of nursing, it is an interdisciplinary lab that welcomes students who are interested in a wide range of academic fields beyond nursing. The lab also supports the healthcare course of the Japan Expert (Bachelor's) Program, a program for international undergraduate students.

The Systems Physiology Lab studies the neural mechanisms of adaptive behavior, that is, behaving appropriately as the environment changes. It aims to understand everything from sensory input to the generation of behavior as a single system. By studying Japanese macaques, whose brains are similar to those of humans, the lab also anticipates elucidating conditions in which adaptive behavior fails to function, such as psychiatric and neurological disorders. The lab investigates information-processing mechanisms by comparing behavioral tasks in humans and monkeys, recording monkey brain activity at millisecond resolution, and conducting experiments that selectively manipulate the activity of specific neural circuits.

The Life Systems Science Lab studies the essence of living systems using mathematical analysis techniques that combine artificial intelligence (AI) and systems biology. The lab views multicellular organisms such as humans as maintaining homeostasis through networks of cells, tissues, and organs, and regards the loss of this balance as the essence of disease. The lab uses mathematical models and deep learning to predict metabolism and to analyze data from a variety of diseases. The lab is new, having been established in January 2026.
