The Complex Systems Ecology Lab studies how complex ecosystems come into being and are maintained. Using methods such as mathematical models, simulations, and time series analysis, it also works on how to achieve prediction and control of ecosystems. The lab aims to build new ecological theory that can be tested directly against observational data. The lab's website is the personal webpage of Associate Professor Kazutaka Kawatsu.

The Intellectual Property, Information Goods, and Legal Systems Lab focuses on intellectual property and on valuable, useful information (information goods), and studies what legal systems suited to the present and future should look like. Society as a whole may benefit more when information can be used freely. On the other hand, creating information often requires effort, money, and time, and there are calls for protection in order to encourage its creation. The lab invites others to use legal thinking as a tool to take on, together, questions that may not have a single right answer.
