The Advanced Applied Data Science Lab develops machine learning and AI methods and applies them to materials science. The lab studies methods for extracting information from measurement data obtained at synchrotron radiation facilities and with electron microscopes, as well as methods for investigating the order hidden in the atomic arrangements of materials such as glass. The lab also works on generative AI models for crystalline materials and on compressing large language models. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Shiga Lab."

The Tough Cyber-Physical AI Lab is part of the Department of Applied Information Sciences in the Graduate School of Information Sciences, and works on research on tough physical AI. The research keywords are tough robotics, cyber-physical systems, and tough AI. The lab is also affiliated with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering. The lab also welcomes applicants who wish to advance from other universities and from advanced courses at colleges of technology (KOSEN).

The Cryptographic Protocol Lab (Mizuki Lab) conducts research on card-based cryptography and related topics. The lab's website corresponds to three affiliations: the Information Security Research Division of the Cyberscience Center, a cooperating chair of the Department of Applied Information Sciences in the Graduate School of Information Sciences, and the Information Engineering Course of the Department of Electrical, Information and Physics Engineering in the School of Engineering. For those who wish to join the lab from graduate school, the website urges them to pay attention to the research themes.
