The Advanced Applied Data Science Lab develops machine learning and AI methods and applies them to materials science. The lab studies methods for extracting information from measurement data obtained at synchrotron radiation facilities and with electron microscopes, as well as methods for investigating the order hidden in the atomic arrangements of materials such as glass. The lab also works on generative AI models for crystalline materials and on compressing large language models. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Shiga Lab."
