Ryohei Kumagai, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kumagai Lab conducts research aimed at a “typology” of architecture and technology, centered on building construction methods, the history of construction methods, renovation technology, and flexibility in collective housing. Using cases of modern architecture and renovation, it examines how technology has changed from the modern era to the present. The lab also carries out construction-method surveys for the preservation and reuse of the former Mizumoto Elementary School, and DIY-based making aimed at easy assembly and disassembly. In addition, students pursue their own themes.

Momoyo Gota, Professor
0 student voices
The Gota Lab studies survey and analysis of urban housing around the world, and mathematical analysis of the spatial form of architecture and cities, in the fields of urban planning and architectural planning. Prof. Gota's research history also lists research on the form of urban space, planning and design of university campuses, and research on healthy communities. Prof. Gota is a faculty member in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo University of Science.

Tatsuo Nagai, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Nagai Lab is an architectural environmental engineering lab specializing in heat in buildings and air-conditioning systems. The lab studies methods of controlling air conditioning that keep indoor spaces healthy and thermally comfortable while efficiently using limited resources. It evaluates architectural design measures, such as stronger insulation and window placement, through measurements in actual buildings and computer simulation. Together with the Kurabuchi Lab, it makes up the environmental engineering labs of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo University of Science.

Kimitaka Aoki, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Aoki Lab is a lab whose research fields are architectural planning and urban planning. The listed research keywords are architectural aesthetic design, architectural design, architectural planning, urban planning, and urban design. Its four research topics are densely built-up areas in the 23 wards of Tokyo, architectural and urban regeneration, architectural theory, and dual-location living.

Kaon Ko, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Ko Lab's research field is architectural design, and it conducts research and applications on the design process and on the evolution of materials, construction methods, and technologies. Its research topics also include practice in experimental fabrication (making things) and historical interpretation of, and proposals for, craft, art, and design. Research topics further include computational design and urban research on subjects such as public spaces and manufacturing networks.

Osamu Takahashi, Professor
0 student voices
The Takahashi Lab studies structural design, seismic design, and structural safety evaluation of buildings. It also works on vibration control and seismic isolation technologies, as well as seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing buildings. Through efforts such as seismic retrofitting of wooden houses aimed at reusing vacant houses, and through industry-academia collaboration, the lab also puts structural and disaster-prevention technologies into practical use in society. Information about the lab is also introduced on the website of Science Structure Co., Ltd., a university-originated venture company whose chairman is the professor.

Kazuaki Nakamura, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Nakamura Lab studies cyberattacks on AI that recognizes or generates images, and defenses against them. Its research fields are information security, perceptual information processing, and intelligent informatics. Its research topics are developing methods for removing the poison from image recognition models and image datasets that have suffered poisoning attacks, and quantifying the risk of model inversion attacks that expose the training data of image generation AI, along with developing defenses against them.

Go Irie, Professor
0 student voices
The Irie Lab conducts research on pattern recognition, machine learning, and media understanding. Its research fields are perceptual information processing (pattern recognition) and intelligent informatics (machine learning). Research topics include selective forgetting in vision-language models and indoor depth estimation using ultrasound and deep learning.

Takashi Sozu, Professor
0 student voices
The Sozu Lab aims to advance medical statistics and to use that knowledge and those techniques to create new insights from medical data. Graduation thesis topics include sample size determination for clinical trials, survival analysis, and analysis of urinary findings in patients with IgA nephropathy. There are also topics that analyze sports data, such as professional baseball and soccer.

Yuya Okadome, Lecturer
0 student voices
The Okadome Lab conducts research on achieving communication that feels "just right" by focusing on body movements such as gestures. To that end, the lab works on creating the various technologies that are needed. Its research field is intelligent robotics, involving human-robot interaction, machine learning, and deep learning.
