Kazuki Maruta, Professor
0 student voices
The Maruta Lab conducts research grounded in digital signal processing for wireless communications, aiming to overcome radio interference and apply communication technologies to other fields. Founded in April 2022, the lab works on frequency sharing, antenna signal processing, optical camera communication, underwater acoustic communication, and more. The lab values student independence: its basic policy is that, once students have mastered the fundamentals, they work toward their goals on their own. The lab encourages students to go on to graduate school, but it does not prevent them from taking jobs after completing their bachelor's degree.
Shunichi Satoh
0 student voices
The Hamamoto-Satoh Lab centers on signal processing of image information and researches three themes: image sensors, image processing systems, and computer vision. In image sensors, the lab develops a new type of sensor that integrates imaging circuits and image processing circuits on a single chip, allowing processing to take place at the same time as imaging. The lab covers everything from LSI design for image sensors to recognition technology based on machine learning, so its research is very broad. It also conducts research related to VR/AR.
Daisuke Kanemoto, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kanemoto Lab studies battery-free measurement systems that use compressed sensing. The lab's website lists three areas side by side, circuit design, system design, and software design, and promotes energy-efficient systems. The research fields listed are LSI design, implementation of sensing systems, algorithms, and IoT. Associate Professor Daisuke Kanemoto joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo University of Science in April 2026.
Takahiro Yoshida, Professor
0 student voices
The Yoshida Lab studies electrical signals that change from moment to moment in everyday environments, such as audio signals, electrostatic discharge currents, and electromagnetic noise. The lab senses (measures) and analyzes these signals to clarify the factors and mechanisms by which they affect electronic devices. It also pursues electronic circuits and signal processing methods that reduce these effects and improve performance, from both the hardware and software sides. The research fields listed include acoustic and image information processing, biometric security, transient signal analysis, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
Masayoshi Wada, Professor
0 student voices
The Wada Lab studies mobile robots and welfare mechatronics. Its work covers omnidirectional mobile robots, joystick-operated car driving devices for people with disabilities, and driving systems for autonomous vehicles. The lab also works on intelligent mobility using drive units that can be attached to and detached from manual wheelchairs and beds.
Shizutoshi Ando, Professor
0 student voices
The Ando Lab studies thin-film solar cells and functional electronic materials. For CIGS-based thin-film solar cells, the lab works on cost reduction, the development of mass-production processes, and ways to improve efficiency. The lab also develops SnS-based thin-film solar cells and wavelength-conversion thin-film filters that change the wavelength of light. Its research topics also include perovskite thin-film solar cells and adsorbent materials for separating and removing tritiated water.
Hirotaka Koizumi, Professor
0 student voices
The Koizumi Lab studies power electronics, which converts electric power freely. Energy consumption is one of the main causes of global environmental problems, and power conversion is a key technology for energy saving and efficient use of energy. Building on its research on compact, high-efficiency power supplies, the lab studies power converters for distributed power sources such as solar power generation, and power control equipment for distribution systems. The lab's research starts from circuits that students conceive with free ideas, pursues the theory behind them, and verifies their operation with hand-built circuits.
Nobuyuki Yamaguchi, Professor
0 student voices
The Yamaguchi Lab studies power system engineering, which supports a stable supply of electricity. Power systems are infrastructure that supports society, but they face challenges such as global warming, energy security, and finding the best mix of power sources. To address these challenges, the lab works on technology development for introducing large amounts of renewable energy, and on building smart grids and a super-smart society using mathematical optimization and AI. Research centers on computer simulation, and the lab also provides opportunities to see actual equipment and sites.
Yuzuru Ueda, Professor
0 student voices
The Ueda Lab conducts research aimed at realizing sustainable electric energy systems, centered on photovoltaic (PV) power generation system technology and energy management technology. Large-scale deployment of renewable energy requires a range of technologies, including advanced utilization of power sources, energy management on the consumer side, and integration into the power grid. In its computer simulation studies, the lab uses real data obtained from demonstration studies, among other sources, to carry out research that gives a tangible sense of connection to the real world. In PV research, experiments, measurements, and fieldwork are also important, and the lab travels to various demonstration test sites, not only in Japan but elsewhere, to conduct research.
Yutaka Fukuchi, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Fukuchi Lab conducts research to make optical fiber communications capable of the ultra-high capacity that will be required in the future. Its research rests on three pillars: long-distance, high-capacity optical fiber transmission networks; all-optical information processing; and development of ultrashort-pulse lasers. The lab also conducts joint research on detecting and predicting signs of failures in optical fiber communication systems. It studies optical communications, optoelectronic devices, and photonic networks from both theoretical and experimental perspectives, and at both the device and system levels.
