The Medical Optics Lab researches diagnostic technologies that use laser light and are gentle on the body. Its central technology is Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an optical imaging technique that can capture cross-sectional images 1–2 mm beneath the epidermis of living tissue. Using OCT to examine the structure and function of living tissue, the lab aims to propose and develop new optical diagnostic methods that can be used in clinical settings. The lab also carries out preclinical research using a high-field 7T MRI system.
