The Acute and Palliative Care Lab studies perioperative nursing, as well as the psychological characteristics and nursing care of patients from the cancer treatment period through to end of life. The patients it focuses on vary widely in developmental stage, health level, and psychosocial background, and in the lab seminar, graduate students freely exchange opinions with one another. At the undergraduate level, the lab is in charge of the Adult Nursing Practicum (Perioperative), in which students mainly learn preoperative and postoperative nursing care for patients undergoing cancer surgery.

The Perioperative Management Lab studies the management of patients before and after surgery, as well as long-term follow-up once time has passed since the operation. The lab views everything from assessing a patient's condition before surgery to postoperative rehabilitation as a single path, and sees its role as helping patients move along that path smoothly. Its goal is to train people who can coordinate a team from many perspectives, across professional boundaries. Starting in fiscal year 2022 (Reiwa 4), the lab opened a course in the doctoral program for training clinical engineers to become instructors.

The Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Lab is the lab within the Nursing Practice Development Science Division that is mainly responsible for education in the psychiatric field. The division is made up of the adult, psychiatric, and gerontological fields. The division trains research educators who advance the accumulation of the scientific evidence needed for nursing care in clinical settings, the development of methods to evaluate nursing care, and the building of theory behind it. The division's website explains that while it has been demonstrated that nursing interventions contribute to improvements in patients' conditions, the accumulation of evidence is insufficient.

The Gerontological Nursing Lab studies care centered on older adults, from prevention through end-of-life care, mainly in collaboration with clinical settings. The lab views older adults as people living their daily lives, and aims to build, through both research and clinical practice, the role of nurses as the core of interprofessional collaboration. The lab wants to strengthen nurse-to-nurse collaboration and focus on research and education that help build evidence and systems showing the importance of nursing that supports daily life.

The Developmental Pediatrics Lab conducts research related to children's growth and genetics. Physical and mental growth through the newborn period, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood is the most dynamic change in a human life, and the lab says much about it is still not understood. From undergraduate to graduate level, the lab is in charge of courses, practicums, and research on children and genetics, including clinical pediatrics, child health, school health, and neonatal physiology and pathophysiology. The lab's page says, “Let's learn about children and genetics, and open up new knowledge together.”
