The Clinical Pharmaceutics Lab works with Chiba University Hospital and conducts research with the clinical setting close at hand. To help patients use the drug best suited to them safely, the lab looks at drugs through a "chemical lens" and places importance on identifying risks. The professor believes that pharmacists of the future should contribute to patients' drug therapy on the wards together with physicians and nurses. The professor holds that personalized medicine can be realized by proposing blood drug concentration measurement and genetic testing.

The Clinical Pharmacotherapeutics Lab conducts research aimed at optimizing drug therapy, meaning better ways of using drugs, and at generating new information on the effects and safety of drugs. By combining "wet-lab research," which measures and analyzes drug concentrations, with "dry-lab research," which analyzes patient data, the lab tackles problems in clinical practice. Under pharmacist faculty members who also hold posts at the University Hospital, the lab carries out clinically relevant research whose results can be returned to patients. Through this research, the lab trains clinical pharmacists who can think about how to use drugs in a way that suits each individual patient.

The Drug Information Lab works with medical institutions and pharmacies to conduct surveys and research on the attitudes of consumers and healthcare professionals, how over-the-counter drugs are actually taken, and topics such as Kampo (traditional Japanese herbal) medicines. The lab also works on the practice and development of Specific Health Guidance based on regional food cultures. It also studies medical information abroad and how that information is provided, not only in Japan.
