His research themes are the history and theory of photography, and the theory of moving-image media and visual culture. He works on the history of photography as a scientific technology, the history and theory of moving-image media, and aesthetic and sensibility-based studies of media art and bio art. He belongs to the Division of Future Coexistence Design in the Faculty of Design at Kyushu University.

Madoka Yuki, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Associate Professor Madoka Yuki studies the history and theory of photography, image studies, and visual culture studies. The professor lists otherness, global art, representations of death, and temporality as research themes. Using the Kyushu University Museum as a case, the lab also works on theoretical research and exhibition practice concerning exhibitions from an art perspective (art intervention). The professor teaches courses and supervises graduation, master's, and doctoral research in the Future Vision Design Course of the School of Design and the Future Symbiotic Design Course of the Graduate School of Design.

Tokusyu Inamura, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
The lab of Assistant Professor Tokusyu Inamura specializes in design engineering and studies design carried out together with all kinds of beings. Questioning the human-centered view, the lab takes "post-human-centered design," which includes the concerns of non-human beings, as a key research term. The research proceeds using keywords such as social innovation, community, meditation, and the legal incorporation of ecosystems. A case study set on the Naka River in Fukuoka has been written up as a paper, and the lab has collaborated with overseas universities such as the Royal College of Art (RCA) in the UK.

Motohide Seki, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Assistant Professor Motohide Seki specializes in mathematical biology, mathematical sociology, and evolutionary biology. In emergency medicine as well, the lab discusses the use of simulations based on Fukuoka City's ambulance dispatch records. Courses taught by the professor include mathematical statistics, mathematical modeling, and programming.

Yoshifumi Tara, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
The Material Design Lab studies the possibilities of materials and techniques that arise from expressive activity. The research keywords are material design, material-driven design, and material expression. In education, the lab covers selecting materials for art and design activities and actually using them. Centered on prototyping and design practice, the lab teaches design thinking with material-driven design and visual thinking as keywords.

Naho Yokoya, Assistant Professor
