Daewoong Kim, Professor
0 student voices
The Content Design Lab studies digital content, where many forms of expression, such as CG, video, the web, and digital archives, overlap. It examines methods for generating and expressing diverse digital content, along with the problems of those methods, and pursues the possibilities of digital media expression. At the center of its research is designing comprehensive digital content that accurately captures social needs and meets them. The lab is currently also developing a way to support mental health across generations through VR reminiscence therapy using avatars.

Shoji Sunaga, Professor
0 student voices
Professor Shoji Sunaga's lab studies information processing in human vision, especially color vision, and applies that knowledge to design. It is known that the mechanisms by which people perceive color differ from person to person, and that not everyone necessarily sees the same colors. Based on this color vision diversity, the lab studies color scheme methods that keep information conveyed by color intact regardless of differences in color vision, as well as educational programs for learning about differences in how colors appear.

Mikako Tomotari, Professor
0 student voices
Professor Mikako Tomotari creates sculpture and studies Shugendo art and the nature of artistic consciousness. She makes sculptural works from actual materials such as wood and iron, and presents them at venues such as Kokugakai exhibitions. She examines the art of Shugendo handed down at Mt. Hiko in Kyushu using methods such as 3D measurement, and carries out restoration and analysis. She also considers how artistic consciousness comes into being, through Central America, Ainu culture, and disability.

Kenji Hara, Professor
0 student voices
Kenji Hara's lab specializes in computer vision and pattern information processing, and conducts education and research in visual information processing. One of its current research themes is segmentation that divides omnidirectional images into superpixels. The lab also studies image fusion, with non-photorealistic rendering as a keyword.

Tatsuro Ishii, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Visual Expression and Extended Visual Expression Lab studies methods of expression in video media and extended expression using stereoscopic video. The lab also researches how to record exhibited video and reproduce it together with the environment in which it was presented. It also covers methods of expressing cultural heritage being prepared for World Heritage listing through video. Extended video expression using installations and projection mapping is also a subject of research.

Kohei Inoe, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Associate Professor Kohei Inoe's lab studies pattern recognition and image processing. The research themes are pattern recognition, image processing, and non-photorealistic rendering. The research keywords include optimization, speeding up, and algorithms. In education, Associate Professor Inoe teaches courses such as Media Programming and Content Engineering at the undergraduate level, and Advanced Topics in Visual Environment Intelligence Design at the graduate level.

Naoki Ono, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Associate Professor Naoki Ono's research on image analysis and processing covers the processing and recognition of images by computer. In recent years, the lab has studied, from many angles, processing methods for improving image quality, such as raising image quality and resolution. Since 2020, the lab has also worked on generating high-resolution images using machine learning.

Takeharu Senoo, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The lab of Associate Professor Takeharu Senoo focuses on vection, the sensation of self-motion produced by vision. Vection is the illusion of feeling that you are moving, which occurs when you view coherent motion across a wide visual field. The lab carries out comprehensive research, including identifying the stimulus characteristics that induce vection efficiently. To broaden the potential for applications, it also works in a variety of fields.

Yusuke Tachibana, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Associate Professor Yusuke Tachibana specializes in intellectual property law and information law. The listed research themes also include telecommunications law, information security law, and internet law. Published papers and presentations cover topics such as indirect infringement of patent rights, the right to repair, and legal policy on cyber supply chain security. Prof. Tachibana belongs to the Strategic Design Division of the Faculty of Design, and holds a concurrent appointment in the Department of Design of the School of Design and the Department of Design of the Graduate School of Design.

Naoto Nakamura, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Associate Professor Naoto Nakamura researches XR, the metaverse, and the creation of interactive content. The research theme is technology that fuses the real world and virtual worlds. The research fields are human interface and interaction, and entertainment and game informatics. Prof. Nakamura ran a company that produces digital content for about ten years, and has also created content personally.
