Asa Ito, Professor
0 student voices
The Ito Lab studies how the human body exists, through the lens of disability. Its fields are aesthetics and contemporary art, and it takes on areas that are hard to put into words, using words. The lab invites people who want to think together about their own senses and bodies, such as being unable to see, unable to hear, or having difficulty moving, and listens closely to their accounts.

Hironao Kaneko, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kaneko Lab is a rare lab at this university where students can specialize in legal studies. It covers a broad range of topics in fields that bridge technology and law, including civil law, e-commerce, and information security. Dispute resolution procedures, and dispute resolution costs such as litigation costs and attorney's fees, are also research topics. The lab also works on electronic evidence and on consumer protection amid advancing digital transformation (DX).

Takuji Matsumoto, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Matsumoto Lab studies risk management and market design in energy markets. The lab builds forecasting models for time series data such as electricity demand, solar power generation, and electricity prices. Based on these forecasts, the lab designs financial products such as weather derivatives and explores ways to reduce the risk of price fluctuations. As distributed energy resources such as renewable energy and storage batteries become more widespread, the lab also works on how to design market mechanisms.

Seiichiro Honjo, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Honjo Lab studies the subjects of business administration, such as consumers, markets, and companies. It re-examines them from a perspective based on insights from complex systems science and cybernetics. The lab explores how the complexity found in living things and in society can be linked to value. Its main subjects are social innovation that creates markets, how digital technology, a prerequisite for it, is used, and brand building.

Masaharu Tsujimoto, Professor
0 student voices
The Tsujimoto Lab focuses on ecosystem strategy. Ecosystem strategy uses the view of natural ecosystems as a metaphor to understand social and economic systems from a broad, historical perspective. Built on ecosystem theory and platform theory, the lab's research uses methods such as integrative reviews, social statistical analysis, and qualitative data analysis. The lab does not stop at analysis. It aims to change real-world society by redesigning and implementing ecosystems.

Shintaro Sengoku, Professor
0 student voices
The Sengoku Lab studies management of technology, focusing on the biotechnology and healthcare industries. Based on observation in the field, the lab investigates how to run interdisciplinary and convergent research and industry-academia collaboration successfully. From this work, the lab develops and proposes standard approaches to innovation management. The lab aims for a form in which building theory and applying it in practice reinforce each other.

Masahide Yamaguchi, Program-Specific Professor
0 student voices
The Yamaguchi Lab studies, from a theoretical standpoint, the history of the universe and the ultimate laws that govern elementary particles and gravity. The lab aims to clarify how the universe was born and how it has evolved up to the present. The lab also tackles the mystery of what the universe is made of, that is, its constituents.

Shoichi Matsuda, Program-Specific Associate Professor
0 student voices
Matsuda Lab researches the search for electrochemical materials using automated experimental robots and data science. Its aim is to bring high-energy-density batteries and hydrogen production by water electrolysis into practical use in society sooner. By making experimental processes high-throughput, the lab collects large amounts of data in a short time, and applies data science methods to that data to discover new materials. Prof. Matsuda, a Project Associate Professor, is the team leader of the Electrochemical Smart Lab Team at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), and the lab accepts doctoral students through a cooperative graduate school arrangement.

Takao Yasui, Program-Specific Professor
0 student voices
Yasui Lab researches the creation of new measurement principles from chemistry. Building on nanomaterials and nanodevices, the lab develops methods to observe life at the level of molecules and tiny particles. It is developing the technologies obtained this way into diagnostics that lead to early detection of disease. The lab is located within the School of Engineering at Nagoya University.

Thiem Van Chu, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Thiem Lab studies computer architecture and reconfigurable computing using FPGAs. The lab deals with the inner workings of computers themselves, as well as the algorithms and hardware for running machine learning. Recently, the lab has been working on ways to run machine learning efficiently and on processing sparse data.
