Takehiko Yamato, Professor
0 student voices
The Yamato Lab studies institution design to achieve efficient and fair allocation of resources. Centered on mechanism design and experimental economics, the lab combines microeconomic theory and game theory with experiments. Even institutions that theory shows to be good are tested in experiments with human participants to see whether they actually work in practice. The lab is divided into a "Theory Track" and an "Experiment Track," which carry out theoretical and experimental research respectively.

Hiroyuki Umemuro, Professor
0 student voices
The Umemuro Lab conducts research focusing on human emotions and states. The lab calls something "affective" when it has the power to evoke emotions in people and has been carefully designed with people's emotional experience in mind. The lab aims to make the world affective by understanding and creating people's emotional experiences. The core of the research is "humans." Students have studied topics such as human-robot interaction, older adults and technology, and the effects of emotions on organizations.

Ryo Kawasaki, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kawasaki Lab uses game theory to study what better social systems should look like. In recent years, research that takes an engineering approach to social mechanisms, based on theoretical research in economics, has become active. The Kawasaki Lab uses game theory methods to apply this theoretical research to economics and various other fields. The keywords of the research are game theory, matching theory, and stability.

Thiem Van Chu, Associate Professor

The Thiem Lab studies computer architecture and reconfigurable computing using FPGAs. The lab deals with the inner workings of computers themselves, as well as the algorithms and hardware for running machine learning. Recently, the lab has been working on ways to run machine learning efficiently and on processing sparse data.
