Tomomi Akita, Lecturer
0 student voices
The Akita Lab studies the construction of DDS that efficiently deliver drugs to the alveoli, with the aim of treating intractable lung diseases. The lab is also developing a Nose-to-Brain system that makes use of neural circuits. Its research field is physical pharmacy, and the listed topics are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), inhaled formulations and device design, and central nervous system delivery technology. The lab is introduced as a lab of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and Drug Discovery at the undergraduate level, and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the graduate level.
Takuo Ogihara, Professor

The Ogihara Lab is presented as the lab for "Drug Discovery Resource Development" in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The lab's faculty member is Professor Takuo Ogihara. Among its recent papers is one that used human cerebrospinal fluid and plasma to examine how easily drugs pass into the brain (blood-brain barrier permeability). Other papers examine the effect of calcium alginate on blood sodium levels and the rise in blood pressure in rats, and P-glycoprotein in lung cancer cell lines.

Shin Aoki, Professor
0 student voices
The Aoki Lab researches the creation of new drugs and materials based on the chemistry of "supramolecules," in which molecules come together and function as a unit. Taking as its model the phenomenon in nature where molecules assemble spontaneously, the lab aims to open up new organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry from supramolecular chemistry in water. It designs and synthesizes photoreaction-based methods for ultra-early diagnosis and treatment of cancer and infectious diseases, new asymmetric catalysts, and luminescent sensors that use light to signal molecules in the body. Since 2019, the lab has also worked on creating small-molecule drugs against cancer and emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
