Hidenori Nakazato, Professor
0 student voices
The Nakazato Lab studies mechanisms in which networks and computers work together as one to process information. The lab aims to build systems in which anyone can easily use a group of connected computers simply by connecting to the network. It studies a new networking approach called content-centric networking, as well as communication methods for cloud environments.

Zheng Wen, Associate Professor (Fixed-Term)
0 student voices
The Wen Lab conducts research that combines AI with IoT, satellite positioning, and communication networks. The lab works on technology to detect spoofing signals in satellite positioning such as GPS, and on using AI for weather radar observation. The lab also studies technology to compensate for communication delay in remote monitoring systems.

Fumiaki Maehara, Professor
0 student voices
The Maehara Lab studies wireless network technologies that support wireless services such as mobile phones, wireless LANs, digital broadcasting, and ITS.

Tatsuya Mori, Professor
0 student voices
The Mori Lab studies information security and privacy in order to protect the many systems that support daily life from malicious attacks. The lab covers a wide range of targets, including smartphones, IoT devices, wireless networks, AI, and self-driving cars. In its security research, the lab places importance on thinking from the attacker's point of view.

Itsuro Morita, Professor
0 student voices
The Morita Lab studies optical communication technologies that underpin information and communication networks. With the spread of 5G and the growth in traffic between data centers, the volume of data flowing around the world continues to increase. The lab works on technologies that achieve high-capacity communication with limited energy, as well as optical communication technologies that can be used in new domains such as space and underwater.

Hiroshi Watanabe, Professor
0 student voices
The Watanabe Lab studies the processing and recognition of video and images. It works on a wide range of topics, including video coding using deep learning, point clouds, and omnidirectional images. The lab also puts particular effort into research on technology that compresses video in a form that computers can easily understand (Video Coding for Machines).

Kazushi Kawamura, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kawamura Lab studies the computing foundations that run AI processing efficiently, and the intelligent processing systems built on top of them. What an intelligent processing system needs varies greatly depending on the type and scale of the social problem it addresses and how it is used. For this reason, the lab conducts comprehensive research that spans applications, algorithms, and hardware architecture.

Tsuyoshi Konishi, Professor
0 student voices
Konishi Lab conducts research that uses the properties of light to solve problems facing ICT. In particular, it pursues original research that uses extremely short optical pulses to perform signal processing optically. The lab also studies how to improve the performance of systems that exchange signals by combining the respective strengths of electronic circuits and light.

Takashi Tanii, Professor
0 student voices
Tanii Lab studies molecular nanoengineering, which makes use of materials and phenomena at the scale of nanometers. Using microfabrication technology, the lab creates quantum devices based on single atoms, as well as nanospaces suited to examining cells and biomolecules. The research is divided into two groups: quantum sensing and biointerfaces. Aiming to develop next-generation analytical systems, the lab works on building new microsystems.

Momoko Deura, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Deura Lab studies "environmental semiconductors" that contribute to energy saving and energy generation. While taking a comprehensive view of materials, devices, and systems, the lab focuses on crystal growth to control the properties of environmental semiconductors as desired. Building on semiconductor crystal engineering and crystal growth technology, the lab advances its research by integrating with a variety of fields.
