The Organogenesis and Regeneration Lab studies mammalian development and regeneration, focusing on digestive organs such as the liver, intestine, and esophagus. Through experiments at the levels of genes, cells, tissues, organs, and whole organisms, the lab examines from multiple angles how development proceeds and how regeneration occurs after injury. By studying the liver, where the existence of stem cells is unclear, alongside the intestine and esophagus, where a stem cell system is essential, the lab seeks to capture the diversity of stem cell systems in digestive organs. On the lab's website, it is presented under the name "Suzuki Lab."

The Skin Regeneration and Aging Lab uses skin as a model to study the mechanisms of organ regeneration and aging, starting from the behavior of tissue stem cells. The lab aims to clarify at the molecular level how stem cell heterogeneity is maintained and how it breaks down, and to develop ways to enable organs to keep regenerating over a long period. The lab is strong in analyses using genetically modified mice, and also incorporates glycan engineering, bioengineering, and omics analysis. Graduate students belong to the Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and applicants with backgrounds in science or engineering are also welcome.

The Stem Cell Medicine Lab, part of the Division of Cell Function Regulation at the Medical Institute of Bioregulation, takes stem cells and regenerative medicine as its research themes. According to the researcher profile, the generation of human induced intestinal progenitor cells with medical applications is listed as research with keywords such as direct reprogramming. Recent papers also report research on converting the fate of liver and blood vessel cells.
