The studio reads the cities and cultures of Europe and Latin America through both texts and on-site research.

AboutAbout the lab
Cultivating the ability to see other cultures from multiple perspectives
The Overseas Research Studio takes up issues of culture, society, gender, development, and policy in cities and their surrounding areas, mainly in Europe and Latin America.
Through group reading of related literature, the studio aims to help students acquire multi-perspective thinking about other cultures.
Beyond literature research, the studio also aims to build practical skills: conducting field research in Japan and abroad, compiling the collected data, and analyzing, examining, and communicating social issues.
There is also a short visit program in which students carry out research and exchange on site.
