Masanori Yasumoto, Professor
0 student voices
Professor Masanori Yasumoto's lab studies how technology and its development can be controlled as companies disclose and share technology with one another. In situations where technology is shared through standardization and patents, the lab examines networks of technology citation and sharing inside and outside firms, aiming to clarify how the governance of open technology comes about. The listed research areas are product development, management of innovation organizations, international comparison of product development organizations, and management of inter-firm relationships.

Yuta Nozaki, Associate Professor
0 student voices
Associate Professor Yuta Nozaki's lab works in topology, mapping class groups of surfaces, knots, and low-dimensional manifolds. Associate Professor Nozaki belongs to the Social Environment and Information Division of the Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences at Yokohama National University, and teaches in the Department of Information Environment of the Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences.

Hideo Kosaka, Center Director, Professor (concurrent)

The Quantum Information Research Center aims to realize a super-smart society (Society 5.0) that is supported by quantum technology and coexists with risk, through cutting-edge research that integrates fields related to quantum technology. Researchers in quantum information from inside and outside Yokohama National University gather here, exchange information and generate ideas on a daily basis, and create an environment in which joint research projects are launched continuously. The center was established as a world-class research hub for practical research, having earned the external trust needed to undertake large-scale research projects at the highest level in the world. It is a research center of the Institute of Advanced Sciences (IAS), and its members are divided into three labs: quantum information physics, quantum control electronic integrated circuits, and integrated photonics.

Shinji Shimode, Professor (Center Director)
0 student voices
The Coastal Environment Center conducts education and research on marine life along the western coast of Sagami Bay and on the terrestrial nature and environment of the Hakone and northern Izu regions. It began as a marine laboratory facility of the Faculty of Education, later became an affiliated facility of the Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences, and is now a center within the Organization for Regional Collaboration Promotion. While continuing its traditional education and research, the center also works with local government, fishery cooperatives, and others to contribute to the local community. It also holds events for local residents, such as plankton collection with microscope observation and marine survey experiences aboard the center's boat.

Akihiro Sakakida, Lecturer
0 student voices
In this lab, Lecturer Akihiro Sakakida conducts research aimed at clean combustion and improved thermal efficiency in hydrogen engines. Hydrogen engines suffer from abnormal combustion such as knocking under high load, and the lab is working to solve this problem. Aiming to develop a two-phase flow injector that injects hydrogen and water into the engine cylinder at the same time, the lab first built a prototype direct in-cylinder hydrogen injector and is evaluating it in an engine. In the department's faculty list, his fields of expertise are given as gasoline engines, pressure vessels, fuel cell systems, and fuel injectors.

Keiichiro Takato, Lecturer
0 student voices
In this lab, Lecturer Keiichiro Takato studied how to develop teaching materials that turn what students design in mechanical design courses into something visible. The aim was to make the whole process a PBL topic: for a problem that differs from student to student, conceiving, designing, and building based on numerical evidence, and then evaluating the performance of the finished product. Using a 3D printer, the lab turned the gear transmission assigned in mechanical design and drafting into a working model, including a synchronizer mechanism that allows gear changes. In the department's faculty list, his fields of specialty are given as design engineering, engineering education, and flow visualization.

Daisuke Ito, Lecturer
0 student voices
Lecturer Daisuke Ito's lab uses electrochemical methods to study corrosion protection related to the maintenance and management of facilities such as oil storage tanks. The lab works on methods for evaluating the degradation of protective coatings applied for corrosion protection, and on developing long-life anticorrosive coatings. Experimental education and recurrent education for engineers are also subjects of its research.

Yoshiki Sakurai, Assistant Professor
0 student voices
Assistant Professor Yoshiki Sakurai studies turbulence, smoke flow during fires, and the dispersion of dense gases, with computational fluid dynamics at the core. The lab aims to elucidate the phenomenon of turbulence through large-scale direct numerical simulation, and also develops tools and models that predict smoke flow in fires and the dispersion of dense gases. He belongs to the Artificial Environment and Information Division of the Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences, Yokohama National University.

Junji Fukuda, Professor
0 student voices
Fukuda Lab uses microfabrication, surface chemical modification, and cell and tissue culture technologies to research devices that can be used in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and medical diagnostics. The lab works on fabricating three-dimensional tissues with vascular networks using electrochemical reactions, fabricating liver tissue from iPS cells, and hair regeneration. Prof. Fukuda holds that cutting-edge medicine cannot exist without engineering design and devices, and aims to develop medical devices, materials, and technologies. The lab's website also uses the name "Bio Microsystem lab."
