Ichiro Matsuda, Professor
0 student voices
The Matsuda Lab studies methods for reducing the data volume of video content and technologies for handling high-quality video with a strong sense of presence. In a multimedia society, technologies that turn the large amounts of data recorded as video into information that people can use easily are important. For high-quality video, the lab's research covers technologies for capturing, generating, processing, and displaying it. Some of the research results are published in a GitHub repository.
Masayuki Mizuno, Professor
0 student voices
The Mizuno Lab studies fire safety engineering for buildings. The lab investigates how people evacuate during a fire and how smoke spreads, and it also works on developing a program that calculates evacuation and smoke behavior in an integrated way. The lab's research history also lists, as topics continuing to the present, the analysis of the risk of fatalities in residential fires, the risk analysis of kiosk fires on subway station platforms, and the risks of wide-area evacuation during urban fires.
Kengo Morohashi, Professor
0 student voices
The Morohashi Lab's research subjects are elucidating gene expression regulatory networks in plants and considering their evolutionary significance. Its research field is molecular biology, with plant physiology, systems biology, and bioinformatics listed. Its research keywords listed are systems biology, plant molecular biology, and bioinformatics. Prof. Morohashi has been engaged in integrated research on information science and life sciences at Tokyo University of Science since 2026.
Toshihiro Takamatsu, Associate Professor

The Takamatsu Lab studies navigation for diagnosis and surgery using near-infrared hyperspectral imaging. Its listed research keywords are medical device development, image processing, and robotics. Its research fields are biomedical engineering and biomaterials, covering near-infrared, spectroscopy, endoscopy, machine learning, and robotics. Toshihiro Takamatsu became an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Science and Engineering, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Informatics, Tokyo University of Science in 2026.
Takamori Ukai, Associate Professor

The Ukai Lab studies how to operate Doctor-Heli (emergency medical helicopters) appropriately and fly them safely within each region's emergency medical system. Its research fields are social systems engineering and safety systems, and hygiene and public health. Its research keywords are urban analysis, mathematical model analysis, and operations research. Takamori Ukai joined the lab as an Associate Professor in April 2026 from the National Defense Academy of Japan.
