Hiroshige Dan, Professor
0 student voices
Dan Lab studies mathematical methods for making organizational management more efficient and for supporting managerial decision-making. The environment surrounding organizations such as companies, national governments, and local governments grows more complex every year, and mathematical methods and computer support have become indispensable. The lab's research focuses on two areas: mathematical optimization and network analysis. Through basic and applied research in these areas, the lab aims to develop people with a high level of both research ability and technical skill.

Takashi Hasuike, Professor
0 student voices
Hasuike Lab conducts wide-ranging research on decision-making under uncertainty, from model building to decision support. Uncertainty comes in many kinds, from things that vary probabilistically to vague things that exist within people, such as the interpretation of words or intuition. Research proceeds by abstracting real problems into mathematical models, then evaluating and analyzing the answers obtained through optimization. The lab targets situations with diverse evaluation criteria, such as financial engineering, supply chain management, tourism science, and human behavior analysis.

Tomomi Nonaka, Professor
0 student voices
The Nonaka Lab studies the design of business and social systems from the perspectives of systems engineering and service engineering. The lab works on designing production systems that start from human information such as job fulfillment and satisfaction. Its research also covers the design of sustainable business and social systems, and value co-creation that makes use of food and local resources. In recent years, the lab has also been researching ways to improve the quality of life of ordinary people staying in space (space QOL).

Reiko Hishiyama, Professor
0 student voices
The Hishiyama Lab studies how to understand the interactions among people, computers, and agents. Its central theme is to capture the structure of knowledge communities through empirical approaches and to redesign how people and machines relate to each other. The lab places importance on connections with theories from the social sciences and management science, and approaches understanding through actually observed data and simulations. In the course of this work, the lab uses computer science techniques to develop research systems that serve as new tools for analysis.
