Tomomi Kito, Professor
0 student voices
The Kito Lab studies how companies and people interact to form the economy and society, and how they keep creating value within it. Its approach combines three fields: complex systems, value creation, and network science. The lab takes the shape of the connections themselves as its object of analysis, including transaction relationships between companies, supply chains, and teamwork. The lab analyzes real-world data, builds models, runs simulations, and develops theory, and collaborates with experts in related fields such as management, economics, and sociology.

Koji Mihara, Professor
0 student voices
The Mihara Lab (Service System Design Lab) studies the design of systems for "koto" (services and experiences), which deliver intangible value. It takes on the big question of how to design systems that create new value. The lab regards most management activities, such as business strategy, business planning, human resource development, marketing, and sales, as service systems that provide value through "koto." Research on service system design, ranging from social systems to production systems, is carried out mainly by working-adult graduate students and researchers.

Qian Huang, Lecturer
0 student voices
The Huang Lab conducts research and education on global logistics management, which moves goods across national borders. Its central question is how to build seamless "collaboration" mechanisms among the different functions of manufacturing, logistics, and sales. The lab also focuses on overall efficiency and resilience, and conducts research to promote modal shift, including rail freight transport. It approaches these problems from the standpoint of management engineering, using mathematical optimization and comprehensive evaluation methods.

Kanetaka Maki, Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Maki Lab's research area is innovation and entrepreneurship. Its main subjects are the process by which startups and new businesses emerge, and the design of innovation ecosystems that span universities, companies, and public policy. Through data analysis and field experiments, students learn methodologies for evidence-based decision-making. The lab aims to develop the ability to envision new businesses and institutions that create economic value and social value at the same time.
