The Mathematical Planning Lab (Fujisaki Lab) studies mathematical theory and its applications for decision-making, which is making plans, and control, which is carrying them out. The lab addresses the modeling, analysis, and design of dynamical systems; the performance evaluation and guarantees of randomized algorithms; multi-agent systems; data-driven control; and security and privacy. The lab aims to establish mathematical approaches to decision-making and control as methodologies in engineering and the social sciences.

The Nonlinear Mathematics Lab studies diverse phenomena that appear in engineering, information, and biological systems, describing them with nonlinear mathematical models. The lab works on understanding the nonlinear mathematics behind these phenomena and on developing methods for analyzing nonlinear mathematical models. It also aims to apply nonlinear mathematics to engineering and information systems. On the lab's website, it is also introduced under the name "Suzuki Lab."

The Information Photonics Lab builds on the physics and technology of light to research information technologies and information systems that offer new value. Its field lies at the boundary between optics and photonics on the one hand and information science and mathematical science on the other. The lab aims to develop optical computing, advanced sensing and imaging, and optical interfaces that connect people and objects with information. The lab also works on research related to diagnosis and treatment using light. The lab's website also uses the name "Ogura Lab."

The Systems Mathematics Lab researches how to solve real-world problems by turning them into systems, using mathematical science approaches. Using mathematical programming, statistical methods, discrete mathematics, combinatorial optimization, artificial intelligence, and more, the lab works on modeling corporate production activities, social phenomena, and natural phenomena. Through research such as system analysis based on the science of uncertainty and multi-criteria data analysis methods for system evaluation, the lab aims to cultivate systemization techniques. Students from other universities and other faculties are welcome, and lab visits are accepted at any time.
