The Intelligent Integrated Systems Lab researches technologies that fuse the boundary between the physical world and the information world. Examples of its research include intelligent autonomous sensors, security against physical attacks, and powder-form computers that permeate the environment. The lab aims to actively open up new application areas for ever-advancing information technology and to contribute to solving social problems. It is a lab of the Department of Information Systems Engineering, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University.

The Intelligent Data Science Lab (Sakurai-Matsubara Lab) researches technologies that use large-scale data to analyze the time evolution of natural and social phenomena in real time and optimize social activities. The lab is developing an AI technology platform that provides information in real time for prediction, factor analysis, trouble prediction, and behavior optimization. Focusing on time-series data such as IoT big data, the lab discovers important patterns and predicts future events. The lab belongs to the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research at Osaka University. As a cooperating chair of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, it accepts undergraduate students from the Department of Electronic Information Engineering as well as graduate students.

The Carbon Neutral Engineering Lab centers its research on building smart grids that can accommodate large-scale introduction of distributed energy resources such as photovoltaic power generation and electric vehicles. From both the demand and supply sides of energy, the lab aims to develop technologies that solve social issues on the way to a carbon-neutral society and to make practical contributions. The lab works on models that combine the electrical behavior of distribution networks with the movement of vehicles on transportation networks, and on energy management systems that stabilize distribution networks. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Yoshizawa Lab."

The Smart Green Process Lab researches and develops green process technologies that greatly reduce environmental impact. Focusing on nano- and microparticles, which are the source of functions, the lab pioneers bottom-up methods for synthesizing particles and fabrication methods that stack particles into two- and three-dimensional shapes. Using the green process technologies it has developed, the lab also makes materials and devices for environmental and energy applications. On the website of the Joining and Welding Research Institute, it is introduced as the "Green Fabrication Division" of the Center for Multidimensional Fabrication Research.

The Symbiotic Environmental Assessment Lab evaluates how the environmental load from human activities affects people's living environments and natural ecosystems, and explores environmentally harmonious technologies. At scales ranging from the globe, regions, and cities to indoor spaces in buildings, the lab clarifies how human activities affect the environmental cycles of air, water, and heat energy, as well as the environmental fate of pollutants. Its core approach combines three methods, Monitoring, Modeling, and Management, building and using mathematical models that describe environmental fate.

The Symbiotic Urban Planning Lab studies the relationship between people and the environment and nature, clarifies how urban spaces and urban environments work, and explores methods for planning and designing them. The lab aims to build sustainable cities where the natural environment and human society coexist. It captures the links among society, the economy, and the environment through model analysis and systems analysis, and it uses statistical data and human flow observation data to analyze the livability of cities and the relationship between space and human behavior. On the lab's website, it is introduced under the name "Kii Lab."

The Global Circulation and Symbiosis Engineering Lab studies engineering technologies for using the benefits that ecosystems provide to human society (ecosystem services) sustainably and for protecting biodiversity. Among the SDGs, the lab focuses on the goals related to energy, climate change, and terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and conducts its research with a strong awareness of the interlinkages (Nexus) among these goals. As tools, it uses mathematical models that represent climate, ecological, and social systems, along with artificial intelligence and data science techniques such as machine learning.

The Environmental Management Lab conducts research on the risks inherent in multiple flows and stocks derived from environmental resources, in order to realize a sustainable society. It aims to identify, clarify, and assess risks, and then to propose responses from both technological and institutional perspectives, including building social consensus. The research is interdisciplinary integration that does not fit within any single discipline. The lab is one of the divisions in the Environmental Engineering Course of the Department of Environmental and Energy Engineering, School of Engineering.

The Environmental Materials Lab uses industrial 3D printers to create materials and structures that are in harmony with the environment. Using residual resources such as slag from steel smelting and shells from seafood processing, the lab is developing Earth implants such as fish reefs and landscape stones. It also works on processes that control the joining and coating of metals, ceramics, and polymer materials with ultra-fine precision at the nano and micro levels. The lab aims to contribute to a sustainable society that is kind to the global environment.

The Environmental Design and Information Technology Lab studies, from the viewpoint of informatics, how to reconstruct environments in which humans, artifacts, and nature coexist. It views environmental design as a cycle of stages (perception, evaluation, generation, and integration) and aims to establish a science of environmental design based on data and artificial intelligence. The lab explores methods to read, evaluate, and design environments in architecture, urban planning, and civil engineering from data, using 3D measurement, digital twins, machine learning, and generative AI. On the lab's website, it is also introduced under the name "Fukuda Lab," and it is also called "EDIT," after the initials of its English name.
