The lab explores risk management across the entire life cycle of chemical substances.

The lab conducts research to advance risk management across the entire life cycle of chemical substances. It studies the movement, accumulation, and release into the environment of chemical substances, as well as their environmental fate, and develops methodologies for doing so. The lab examines how environmental risks of chemical substances should be assessed and managed, not only in normal times but also during disasters and accidents. It is a collaborative field with the National Institute for Environmental Studies (a cooperative graduate school arrangement) and is one of the fields in the Environmental Engineering Course.
