Takaya Yamazato, Professor
0 student voices
The Yamazato Lab approaches communication from outside its conventional framework, with the aim of getting at what communication fundamentally is. The lab works on visible light communication, which uses visible light instead of radio waves, and on underwater optical wireless communication, which sends information through water with blue and green light. Its research also covers communication that deliberately makes use of noise, and semantic communication that draws on machine learning. In visible light communication, the lab studies applications in transportation, such as sending data from LED traffic lights to moving vehicles.

Hiromitsu Awano, Professor
0 student voices
The Awano Lab pursues research that opens up the future of integrated circuits, which underpin the spread of intelligence throughout society. It tackles the topic from two sides: chips that run AI quickly with low power consumption, and EDA that uses AI to automate the design of complex chips. The lab aims to build these into real robot systems, going beyond the boundary between software and hardware to unite the two. Its research is end-to-end, from algorithms to implementation on FPGAs and real chips, and on to control of physical robots.

Satoshi Iwata, Professor
0 student voices
Prof. Iwata's research group studies information security, with a focus on cryptography. Information security is a foundational technology that underpins the safety of information and communications, and cryptography forms its basis. Through research such as security analysis of ciphers and cryptanalysis, the lab aims to contribute to the development of a more trustworthy, secure, and prosperous information society. Cryptographic technology is used in a wide range of fields, from the Internet to automobiles and space development.

Shinji Doki, Professor
0 student voices
The lab studies control of electric motors (motors) based on control theory, and intelligent control of robots. Prof. Doki's research keywords also include pattern information processing for control, signal processing, and modeling, and their applications. Associate Professor Funabora's research keywords are intelligent control, robotics, soft computing, and soft robotics.
