Takeshi Yanai, Professor
0 student voices
The Yanai Lab conducts theoretical research that analyzes and predicts the chemical properties and reactivity of molecules, using quantum chemical calculation methods as its core technology. From the viewpoint that chemical change is fundamentally brought about by the action of electrons, the lab explores its mechanisms and principles. The lab also aims to establish advanced theories and algorithms for this purpose and to provide theoretical tools useful for creating transformative molecules. The lab is one of the research groups of the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM).

Anuphon Laohavisit, Project Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Laohavisit Lab is a research group of the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM), with Project Associate Professor Anuphon Laohavisit as principal investigator. The page of the lab's leader presents, as a research highlight, a result elucidating how plants sense hydrogen peroxide signals. The subtitle of this result refers to a new redox-state sensing mechanism that depends on copper ions.
Quan Manh Phung, Professor
0 student voices
The Phung Group uses computational chemistry methods to study the mechanisms of chemical reactions carried out by transition metal complexes and related compounds. The group has studied high-valent iron-oxo complexes that activate strong C-H bonds such as those in methane, combining high-accuracy quantum calculations with machine learning. Currently, the group is developing methods that use quantum calculations and machine learning to predict, quickly and reliably, the electronic properties of transition metal complexes, which are important for catalysts and functional materials. Prof. Phung serves as principal investigator, and the group is based within the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules.

Daisuke Kurihara, Project Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Kurihara Group conducts research aimed at elucidating the mechanisms that control cell fate in plants. The group's page lists three topics: embryogenesis, female gametophyte development, and deep-tissue imaging of plants. It is a research group belonging to the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM).

Emi Mishiro-Sato-Sato, Project Lecturer

The Molecular Structure Center supports structural analysis and omics analysis of a wide range of research samples, including organic molecules and biomolecules synthesized at the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM). Beyond simply performing measurements, the center places importance on proposing experimental designs and analytical methods suited to each research purpose, and on advancing analysis through discussion with researchers. The center is equipped with mass spectrometry instruments and analysis software, and provides consistent support from data acquisition through to analysis. It handles a broad range of samples, including those from humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms.
