The lab approaches hard-to-treat fungal diseases through both clinical care and research.

The Clinical Infectious Diseases Project Lab deals with fungal diseases, including aspergillosis, through both clinical care and research. It studies them from many angles, including how infection occurs, the development of diagnostic and treatment methods, and epidemiology. The lab researches problems that emerge in clinical practice, with the aim of bringing the results back to the bedside. It also runs a "Mycosis Reference Center," which handles consultations and testing for fungal diseases from medical institutions across Japan.
