AboutAbout the lab
Opening up Chinese-character texts through information science.
The Humanities Informatics Innovation Center is the successor to the Center for Oriental Studies Documentation. It was reorganized in October 2023 so that its know-how in researching and digitizing historical sources written in Chinese characters could also be applied to modern and contemporary sources.
Its main mission is to conduct information-science research on Chinese characters and to deliver texts written in Chinese characters widely to researchers through new media. The center creates various databases, and the Toyogaku Bunken Ruimoku (Classified Bibliography of Oriental Studies) is also available on the web.
