An education and research center that creates new value through informatics.

AboutAbout the lab
Creating new value through the power of informatics.
The Center for Value Creation Education and Research is an affiliated facility of the Graduate School of Informatics, and operates through three divisions: research, human resource development, and collaboration.
To create the informatics needed in a society where the real world and cyberspace are deeply integrated, and to create new value, the center carries out a wide range of activities from basic research to starting companies.
In addition to research on natural language processing and manufacturing informatics, the center runs doctoral education through the Real-World Data Circulation Leaders Program and supports student startups.
By inviting researchers from abroad, the center also brings internationally leading research activity in informatics into its work.
Key terms
- Natural language processing
- One of the central themes in the field of artificial intelligence. At the center, many researchers work on it together.
- Manufacturing informatics (monozukuri informatics)
- An effort in which research teams in substances, materials, and raw materials work with informatics teams to establish new data-driven approaches.
- Explainable AI
- Artificial intelligence that presents the grounds for its decisions in a form people can understand. It is considered important for putting state-of-the-art AI, which has become a black box, to practical use.
ResearchResearch themes
The Center for Value Creation Education and Research promotes value creation based on information science through research, education, and collaboration with society. The research division promotes international research activity by inviting researchers from abroad, holding research exchanges with partner universities in the United States, and running joint research projects.
