Yusuke Ujitoko, Affiliated Associate Professor
0 student voices
Ujitoko Lab conducts fundamental research on touch, aiming to realize haptic presentation systems that let people feel the sensation of touching objects or other people. Its main themes are understanding human perceptual characteristics, proposing haptic presentation techniques based on those characteristics, systematizing the needs and application scenarios for haptic presentation, and examining the specifications that haptic presentation systems should meet. At the University of Electro-Communications, the lab collaborates with Prof. Hirota (Department of Informatics) and uses a high-density pin-array display built in-house to realize new haptic experiences and investigate human perception. Research is conducted at NTT Communication Science Laboratories. Students can join this lab from the graduate school level.
Takayuki Osogami, Affiliated Associate Professor
0 student voices
The Osogami Lab studies mathematically what should count as a rational decision in situations where there is uncertainty about future conditions or other people's actions. From the perspective of the mathematical sciences, the lab analyzes what information should be processed, and how, to make rational judgments. It aims to implement and apply the results as algorithms that can be used in the real world. Research is conducted at IBM Research – Tokyo, part of IBM Japan, Ltd. Students can join this lab starting at the graduate level.
Shuji Hayase, Project Professor
0 student voices
The Hayase Lab conducts research on solar cells and thermoelectric devices. The lab covers a wide range from materials to devices, including materials design by molecular orbital calculation, materials synthesis, and device fabrication and evaluation. The lab names people from almost all engineering fields as desirable members, including chemistry (organic and inorganic), materials, electronics and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and information science. Students can join this lab starting at the graduate level.
