A research division on the high performance computing systems that support ultra-fast, large-scale computation.

The High Performance Computing Systems Division studies the hardware and software that support the ultra-fast, large-scale computation required by cutting-edge computational science. As a division of the Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba, it works with the teams in each application field within the center, aiming to provide high performance computing systems suited to real problems. Its research covers a wide range of topics, including computer architecture, parallel programming languages, numerical methods and libraries, accelerator systems such as GPUs, large-scale distributed storage, and grid and cloud environments. The description on the research page was last updated in December 2019.
