A materials science and engineering subprogram in which leading researchers on the NIMS campus supervise doctoral students.

The NIMS Affiliated Materials Science and Engineering Subprogram is a doctoral-only subprogram in materials science and engineering within the Degree Program in Applied Physics and Engineering at the University of Tsukuba. It is located on the campus of the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), where leading researchers serve as faculty and provide research supervision toward a doctoral degree. Students take part in cutting-edge research in an environment with active international research communication, using some of the world's most advanced scientific instruments. The master's program is offered through the Materials Science and Engineering Class of the Electronic and Physical Engineering Subprogram and the Condensed Matter Physics and Molecular Engineering Subprogram, and students can also earn a master's degree under the supervision of faculty in this subprogram.
