The Sekijima Lab aims to create drugs and materials using computer science methods such as machine learning and supercomputing. These fields are called cheminformatics and materials informatics. Using deep learning and molecular simulation, the lab searches for drug candidates based on the three-dimensional structures of disease-related proteins and compounds, and develops methods to generate compounds that did not exist before. Students in the lab come from a wide range of backgrounds, including computer science, applied mathematics, organic synthesis, and pharmaceutical sciences.

The Takuo Watanabe Lab studies the principles and mechanisms that make it easier to develop safe and reliable computing systems. It combines techniques from several fields: programming languages, systems software, and formal methods. Recently, the lab has focused on research on embedded and control systems using functional reactive programming languages. Its research uses functional programming languages that handle tree structures and symbols easily, and tools such as model checkers and proof assistants.
