Takeo Igarashi, Professor
Software & Computing0 student voices
The Igarashi Lab researches user interfaces that make computers easier to use. The lab also works on CAD and computer graphics research, with a focus on shape modeling. Its goal is to enable people without specialized training to create 3D models, animations, and physical objects such as clothing and furniture.

Hitomi Yanaka, Associate Professor
AI & Machine Learning0 student voices
Through research on natural language processing technologies that understand the meaning of language the way humans do, the Yanaka Lab aims to uncover the mechanisms by which humans understand the meaning of language. Artificial intelligence technologies that process natural language, such as information retrieval and machine translation, have become part of everyday life. However, it is still not clear whether these technologies understand meaning the way we do, nor how we ourselves understand it. Working with researchers in Japan and abroad, the lab pursues its research based on the integration of machine learning and symbolic logic.

Hayata Yamasaki, Associate Professor
Quantum & Condensed Matter0 student voices
The Yamasaki Lab studies the foundational theory of quantum information and quantum computation, and its applications. A quantum computer processes information using the principles of quantum mechanics, and is fundamentally different from conventional computers. The lab seeks to clarify how quantum computers can be used and realized, as well as their optimal performance and fundamental limits. The lab aims to build a comprehensive theoretical foundation for the era of quantum information processing.
