Keiji Kimura, Professor
0 student voices
The Kimura Lab studies multicore processors and automatic parallelizing compilers. The lab pursues ways to run "multicore" processors, which place multiple CPU "cores" on a single chip, with high performance and low power consumption. Jointly with the Kasahara Lab, the lab studies the "OSCAR compiler," which automatically distributes a program across cores, and the multicore processors suited to it. The lab also works on speeding up and reducing the power consumption of a variety of applications on multicores, such as scientific and technical computing and image recognition.

Edgar Simo-Serra, Professor
0 student voices
Simo-Serra Lab researches technologies in machine learning, computer vision, and computer graphics. The lab was established in October 2018 and has accepted students since April 2019. Each year, the lab accepts new students through lab assignment from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering.

Toshiharu Sugawara, Professor
0 student voices
The Sugawara Lab studies autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, a field within artificial intelligence. The lab builds mechanisms by which many programs (agents) connected over the Internet learn autonomously while cooperating and coordinating with one another. Beyond the learning of individual agents, the lab also works on theory and simulation-based validation aimed at improving the efficiency of the system as a whole.

Tachio Terauchi, Professor
0 student voices
The Terauchi Lab studies programming languages. Its main focus is program verification, which automatically checks whether a program behaves according to its specification, and program synthesis, which automatically generates a correct program from a specification. The lab also applies these techniques to security problems such as information leaks and timing attacks. It also works on the foundational theories that underpin them, including type systems, mathematical logic, and formal language theory.

Hironori Washizaki, Professor
0 student voices
Washizaki Lab researches how to build and operate reliable software. The lab covers many stages of software development, from requirements analysis and design to quality assurance and maintenance. In recent years, it has also worked on methods that support the development and operation of software using AI and machine learning. The lab also researches how to compile practical know-how from the field into pattern languages that anyone can use.
