Masahiro Furuya, Professor
1 student voices
The Furuya Lab conducts research that clarifies the mechanisms of heat and flow through both experiments and simulations. It also incorporates new methods such as machine learning to deepen its understanding of these phenomena. Using 3D printing, microfabrication technologies, and instrumental analysis, the lab also takes on catalyst technologies, which add chemical reactions to heat and flow, as well as materials informatics. The lab's research centers on themes related to the safety of nuclear power plants and fusion reactors.

Akifumi Yamaji, Professor
1 student voices
The Yamaji Lab systematically studies nuclear power generation technology while researching accidents and next-generation reactors. A distinctive feature of the lab is its ability to simulate Generation II to Generation IV nuclear power plants consistently, from severe accidents to the fuel and core design of next-generation reactors. The results are used to improve reactor safety through national projects, such as research on putting new types of fuel into practical use and research on decommissioning the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, as well as through joint research with private companies.
